Do not deal with this company or Energy Australia who sell debts to them. Totally un professional

Sorry HAHA, don't agree. The majority of people on here are saying they either don't owe money or are not prepared to give private details out over the phone. No-one knows who is at the end of a phone - could be anyone phishing for information to steal identities, money etc.

I would never give my full name and date of birth to some faceless, nameless person on the other end of the phone. It is ridiculous to expect someone to in this day of high cyber crime.

They are also complaining about the rudeness and aggressiveness of the callers. How dare you presume everyone who gets into trouble with debt is a lazy dole bludger. Most are hardworking people who are going through a tough time. So go suck on a lemon and hope karma doesn't bite you in the arse.

We have never had an account with Energy Australia. We received a letter stating Panthera had bought a $1400 debt, and as such we owed Panthera $1400.

I then contacted Energy Australia, and have it writing that no debt exists.
My first call with them was from a girl who was screaming down the phone that I owe $1400... I now have a letter stating they intend to black mark my credit rating.

Everywhere I turn shows Panthera to be a legit business operating just inside the law. An investigation by Queensland police showed that are "just legal" - by "inviting" me to pay. But otherwise they could not say they were a criminal operation.

Im now awaiting the results of an ACCC investigation.
We have found they are in breach of several credit company guidelnes in their operations.

Oh.. and Panthera ONLY ring using a plethora of mobile numbers. I have about 20 listed so far. If you need them, let me know so you can block them.

And for those who say Im trying to get out of a bill.... well. we have never used Energy Australia, so how can we owe them money?

I'm a Dect collector myself, and this number just called me rung twice then they terminated the call, the idea is to never acknowledge the debt and your fine :)

This is hilarious, the majority of people posting here are acknowledging they owe money but yet refuse to pay their debt.. and class normal every day people just doing their JOB as scum.

Maybe if you got out of your house more than once a week to venture to centrelink, actually tried to take initiative to find a job for yourself and repaid the debt which you accrued, this country wouldn't failing economically.

They are full of sh*t. Don't have ANY debts, never heard of them. So I would just ignore if you receive a text which is exactly what I am doing.

received a letter from Panthera today demanding $1500 for an AGL electricity bill WTF have been with origin for ten years, sent them an email stating there must be some mistake and all the do is say to ring them with all my personal details, yer like im gunna do that

I was pretty shocked to have a phone call about a ex partner who I haven't spoke to in well over a year... I passed on all info I had (e.g parents address ECT) and they were absolutely lovely to me! (Young bloke called Daniel) at the end of the day all they are doing is there job, be polite and co-operative and they are the same with you :)

The question i would like to put to you is would you pay an account that was either wrong or not yours . I do not think so unless of course you , as demonstrated in your totally unwarranted tirade of totally irrelevant drivel to be a totally socially inept moron who is perfectly placed in an industry awash with thugs,bullies , liars an cheats whether they be female or male . All i can add is it appears you all work in one town that you all should be sterilized as what a union would produce would need to be put down like wild animal .

they were ringing me at home in sydney asking for my daughter to speak to them re money to comm bank,and sending mail with threats she had never had dealings with that bank it continued for 18 mnths mail and fone then last letter said that they would accept 50% of original so called debt they got nothing

I recently received a letter from Panthera finances for a bill for 1thousand 700 dollars for Energy Australia we changed to Agl 4and a half years ago and we paid are last and final bill to Energy Australia they are demanding I pay this or settle the account within 48 hours.Iwas told by Agl they would do the change over I didn't have to do anything so who stuffed up and why do I have to be the one that suffers.Any advice would be helpful.My mum died the day before I got this letter and today was her funeral I informed them of this but I guess them getting money from us little people is all they care about.

Same scam....recieved a bill from Panthera regarding an Energy Australia account....NEVER HAD ONE!!!
They have used the same trick, put a default on my clean credit file etc, LIE on the phone....
Don't be sucked in by these people, its a scam and l suggest if they have contacted you that you refer it in a formal complaint to the CREDIT AND INVESTMENT OMBUDSMAN.
The more complaints the more they will listen....DONT GIVE THEM MONEY.... its easy to have the fraudulent credit entry removed from your file!

Had phone call from these people gettung all rude and really nasty and threatening when i said 'im not sure about this debt from over three years ago that i never knew about so may i please check your details and call you back?' They got really defensive and told me if i hang up i will be placed in non compliance pile and have debt handed to sherriffs?! Didnt say i wouldnt pay if there was truly a debt i just wanted to knoe who i was giving my details to. He wanted my full name, address and for me to implement a payment plan right then and give over bank details OVER THE PHONE!!!! also wanted family contacts, workplace name and contact number. No. Why did he turn nasty and get all threatening and defensive when i said i just want to make sure you are who you say you are? Have NOT heard from him in over a week after i told him i believe i am in my rights to contact police or ACCC as i am starting to think they were a fraudulent company due to attitude and actions. I dont believe it is a genuine debt and i think it is a scam. How do i find out for real?

I have 2 emails from Panthera Finance stating I owe Alinta Energy one said I owe Alinta $124.72 and the other $385.68. They also said in the email that they send out a notice of Assignment which I have not got at all. I know for a fact I do not owe Alinta anything as I had paid my accounts with them. I am not going to give them anything at all. I am waiting for someone from Alinta to get back to me before I take this further.
