Rang me, confirmed my name, and said "my name is Helen from the Police Foundation"... I interrupted and said "Let me guess; you're selling ad space in the Police Foundation magazine?". She said "Yes". I said "Congratulations Helen, you've just had your mobile number reported to the government Scamwatch website". She hung up.

Got a call from this number today canvassing for advertising my "business" in the Federal Police journal called Auspol. Very skeptical. Asked them how they found my mobile number and it sounds like a Facebook or google search.

I kept getting calls from this number and others very similar. Turns out it is a number used to canvass businesses for advertising for emergency services. Australian company and Australian people making the calls. Spent the time to check them out, nothing untoward here.

Only answer if you want to be spammed by them for the rest of your life. I sponsored them once. Worst money I ever spent. Now, even though my business has closed down they keep ringing every couple of weeks asking for more money. It is the police union. One of my friends advertised with them and then they rebilled his credit card the next journal without asking him. They returned the money when he pointed out that they had committed fraud.

fed up with scam calls about Auspol/Emergency Services magazine advertising

Scam - tricking people into paying to advertise in magazines that are often only distributed to the people conned into advertising in them , if distributed at all.
