Not Paypal

Recieved a text message asking to authorise or not authorise a transaction by replying 1 or 2.

Silly me authorised it. Had a bad feeling about it so I called Paypal. The person I spoke to from Paypal said they never send SMS to confirm details or authorizing transaction. Blocked.

This is a genuine call from Paypal re-verifying my login with a verification code. It DOES NOT ASK ME FOR ANYTHING except to enter the 6 digit numbers on to my log in page. If Chrome didn't crash so often this logging in again would not be necessary.

Recieved multiple legit messages from this number with verification codes for Paypal login.
Received this text today: "PayPal: You have a new money request. Pay at: https://py.pl/2BbbgK. Malgorzata Masiewicz sent a request for $999.00 AUD."

I think is is a legit SMS number for paypal that scammers are abusng to hide their scams. Scammers hoping someone clicks the link and approves the payment without thinking as the notification came through paypals legitimate number.

Just to reinforce the advice that this is indeed Paypal messaging on this number; yes, automated SMS advising when the next instalment of one's "Pay in 4" arrangement will be deducted. No need to freak out. Cheers.

SMS supposedly from Paypal advising of secure login number. Have not been near Paypal in a very very long time. All scammers/spammers should be strung up by the testicles.

Have bought a few things on Ebay with the 4 payment plan with Paypal. They text me from this number just to let me know my payment is due to come out on a certain date. It is legit for me, but they way scammers rip people off it is probably being used to scam some people, so never reply or click a link in any text, login and see if it is legit.

This is Paypal, they send me notifications of my payments that are due to be charged in my 4 payment plans. A spammer could have also used this number, as they do, but this number for me is legit.

Phishing for your account details

Definitely a scam.
Do not respond to any request to validate your personal detail.

Not sure what to make of all these comments. I received a message advising that a refund of $30 had been processed. This was a refund I was expecting & was legitimate.

Received text stating 10 minutes before Paypay "one time code" expired. Scam, scam, scam. Have not used Paypal for about 6 months. I note that in this string of posts, that most, if not all who claim the phone number is "genuine" are "anonymous".

PayPal system reads the number off your genuine account information. It does not have someone sitting there pushing numbers on a phone. I therefore wonder why you would post your comment here?

Caller: Claimed to be a text from PayPal

Someone sent a text pretending to be from PayPal on 0458 729 725. They sent a transaction code to authorise a payment, knowing that I had not requesed a payment on PayPal I independently checked my PayPal account via desktop computer. The verification code PayPal sent for me to sign in also came through in a text to my phone appearing to be from the same phone number 0458 729 725 ? ? ? No charges were pending.
