I received a call from this number today. It was from someone calling themselves Maxine. She claims to work for Capital Wealth, an investment company that "helps property owners use their property equity to fund the purchase of investment properties". She started the conversation asking me if I remember filling in a competition form at Coles and that I'd won a Samsung tablet. All I need to do was attend a seminar for one hour to listen to financial advice etc., oh and bring my husband along.

I don't fill out competition forms, but was curious as to what she would say next, so I just played along. I received an email confirming my attendance at the seminar at a local golf club. What she didn't know was that I'd checked the company out and discovered that ASIC have warnings on dealing with this company, that they are running a scam and that those poor people that did invest with them have now lost their money.

I just tried to call her back, some 30 minutes after I received her call, and now that number is disconnected.

Stay away. Be warned. Their website looks genuine, their behaviour is far from that.

Definitely a dodgy number. Keep getting calls from 0439 687 xxx. The last three xxx are always random numbers but no one leaves a message when goes to voice mail.

This number called me but two minutes later apparently it was disconnected.

The person called me. They asked for my bank details. Hung up immediately. BLOCK THIS NUMBER.

got a call and message from this number, when I called it back it said optus has advised that this number is disconnected. wonder how that works, that it's disconnected straight away

They called me 2 weeks ago for same thing. Not sure how they have my details.

Just got a missed call with a blank voicemail message from the number, glad sites like these are around to raise suspicions. Hopefully they won't be a nusiance for very long, even though they supposedly have different numbers it's worth blocking their numbers if your phone allows for it.

THIS company is a scam company called Global Wealth Management out of queensland . Do not call then back delete your contact and complain to optus so it goes off their network.

Yep, looks like this scam is still going on. Got a call from this number and returned it immediately only to hear the number disconnected message. Pain in the proverbial.

Number has called several times, goes to messagebank but doesn't say anything. Another one for the block list!

Same thing happening to me. Rings for short period and you don't have time to pick up the call. Returning the call gets the disconnected message other have mentioned. Interesting that cold-callers like this are ignoring the Do Not Call register - I am getting a lot of calls these days on my mobile.

Got a call to my mobile while at work from 0439 687 741 so had to let it go to voicemail but no message was left. Since I didn't recognise the number I checked on here first only to read prior comments - glad I did! Out of curiosity I called the number back from work phone (within 5mins of having received it) and got the Optus "disconnected" message! Dodgy AF

I got the same call, giving away a free $50 gift card coles/myer and but need to attend a finance seminar, i said call back, now i wish i didn't.
ANd yes like you have said call it back and it says is disconnected. i am not answering it now.

in the last week had 2 calls from this number... they left no voice message what so ever but heard rustling in the back ground

Received 2nd phone call in two days. Same scenario as others...last two digits change - no message - disconnected number. How do they get access to these numbers?
