Heres a tip any number starting with 0434 77 are fake mobile numbers. Dont bother answering and block them as they come through.

People are perfectly entitled to know their rights and how to deal with this scavengers. I assume your hostility is due to it making your job a bit harder?

You are an idiot Sequin.

They are asking for your personal information because YOU owe a debt.

They don't have to give their personal info out, because they are just doing THEIR JOB. The aren't the ones who owe money. The only information they are required to give you is their name and their direct line. If you have a issue with them, you can ask to speak to their manager.

Perhaps if you weren't such a lazy, dole budging loser you would be able to pay your debts??

Good luck ever being able to buy a house, car etc when you obviously a filthy debtor with a bad credit rating. Get a life.

Panthera are worse than gutter trash. There chasing a 280agl Bill and have listed 10times entries on my credit report doubling up in dates. Come on guys let's get together and start something. The harassment of phone calls after hours and the rude staff they employ is a joke. Lets stand up to these maggots and see how they like it. What can be done I'd there listed on yr credit file 10times for the same Bill. Arseholes

got a call from this number and told me I haven't pay 500 for a address where I lived there 5 years ago. I ask for bill and they said no bill. I check with ENERGY AUSTRALIA based on the account number and they can't find detail. Keeping ask me bank detail and credit card number. Scum !!!

not only was your comment unhelpful but it was down right rude and abusive which makes me think you work for these people who happen to make mistakes and not only do the get rude and abusive they dont apologize when they realize they've made a mistake which is what they did to me but now i get this number calling then hanging up all the time without saying a word. and dont even try and call me a lazy dole bludger cause i happen to work full time as well as deliver papers and catalogues to mailboxes for a bit of extra cash since being a single mum of 2 calls for the extra work and no i dont have any outstanding debts except my phone bill that isnt due for another 7 or 8 days, mayb you shouldnt comment unless you're actually gonna b nice and helpful

I have no debts but keep getting collection agency calls. I never answer them. I have had more calls than legally allowed.
I even got a call from the tax department. The calls were for someone who used to have this number: 'James'.
I also got annoying calls on my other phone that has always been in my name and people said that number was a computer dialling from Perth. Phone went flat, calls stopped.

If they call and you answer, not knowing it's them, here's something worth thinking about. Never give you rname. NOTHING can be done or said until they confirm who you are. So they ask, "Is that Mr. Smith?" If you say yes, you have begun and all kinds of legal things start. BUT, if you don't confirm who you are nothing can be bound to you. So how do you avoid problems? Ask THEM their name first.
1. Say to them, "BEFORE this conversation begins, I need to confirm who you are. Please give me your full name." They will usually refuse. If they refuse, say, "Well, unless I have your full name I can't BEGIN this conversation. So good bye."
2. After a while you might get someone who does give you their full name. If that happens, then say, "Thank you and what is your personal mobile number?" Again they'll refuse. Continue with this line and ask for date of birth, home address, home phone number (if they ask why tell them in case you needed to confirm who they are and that they are legitimate).
3. If they do give you any info just keep asking for more, which is what they do. "Thank you, and your home address please." "Thanks, and what is your wife's name?" And so on. Keep asking for more and more details. When they say it isn't necessary say it IS VERY NECESSARY as you need to be sure who they are before you can begin any conversation. If they say you can just contact the company and confirm who they are, say, Yes, I could do that but that doesn't mean that is you. You might be faking it and masquerading as them, so I need YOUR full name and date of birth."Never had anyone yet give me their DOB or any other real personal information.
4. When they refuse, say, "Well unless I can confirm who you are I can't BEGIN this conversation. Goodbye."
Just turn the tables. Before they start talking and asking your details ask them their details instead. Be polite and act disappointed that you can't START the conversation because they refuse to give their personal details.

A finance company chasing a 'bad debt'. Hang up on them. Go directly to the company involved and solve it through them. I am still in the process of working out why Energy Australia thinks I owe them money, but under no circumstances will I give these people any money, nor any more time.

Pantera Finance, missed the call. I called back they knew it was me calling back. Wanted me to confirm my DOB and address. Didnt give it to them and i told them to stop calling as they arent getting a cent. He just said we will keep calling you then. Scumbags. Added to reject list and still able to call through? Weird.

Go to COSL (Credit Ombudsan SErvice) - look up their email details, lodge a dispute with the person indicated, then lodge an onlne dispute with COSL.

It will get them off your back and the more complaints received against them - the higher the fees charged by COSL.

Definite Scum give some hurt back to them my lodging disputes - doesn't take long

getting calls with no one answering, had one at 7pm the other night. another asked for a Mrs Smith, obviously looking for personal or credit card details this has been happening for a couple of months now, i think they {pantera} are calling from several different numbers, maybe they are outsourcing work to inexperienced workers. do what i do, if no one answers i tell them that I am going to report their number to the authorities for harassing me

Im getting the same phone calls from this scumbag company, I have told them I have never had a contract with them nor have I delt with them so I owe them nothing.

They say they bought the debt from AGL electricity and if I dont pay they are threatening me with a bad credit report.

Well prove it send me invoices with dates stating what I owe.. All they have been able to send is disconnection notices and not a actual invoice... Further more my name is spelt incorrectly and it seems that AGL have always spelt my surname wrong.

What are my rights?
