I received numerous emails from Paul same as Katrina received above begging me to pay monies to him for freight, custom fees etc. Unfortunately I wasn't fast enough to realise that all this was a SCAM. Please be careful of this person.

Received SMS from Brian saying he is interested in my car re: my carsales ad asking me to email him on barchibald308 @ gmail.com.
I sent email. He asked me the below :
Where is it located at the moment? What's your final price? Why are you selling it? Does it need anything to be replaced or repaired? I'm cool with the condition as described on the advert. I work for Fly In Fly Out (FIFO)Mining, Oil and Gas and we are presently in a remote area. We do not have access to a phone at the moment and that's why I contacted you with an internet messaging facility. Regarding the payment, I can pay you through direct bank deposit (EFT), using PayPal instant bank wire transfer service. I will need your Account name, BSB, and Account number. If you are not comfortable with that, you can set up a PayPal account properly at www.PayPal.com.au and I will make the payment through PayPal, this way, all I will need is your PayPal email address.

I have also contacted my courier who will come for pick up and deliver it to my place in Darwin after the whole fund has been cleared into your account. With the issue of my details, transferring the name of ownership and signing of all paperwork will be done by the pickup agent. If you are not comfortable with that, you can cancel the registration and I will buy Unregistered.

After a few messages, he said that he is on the sea and his 'private courier'can only be paid via a $100 steam gift card so he can convert it to cash.

BIG RED FLAG. I advise not to interact with this person.

Same as Rebeccas. Offering to buy Double bed from Gumtree ad. Gave him bank details but contacted Comm Bank as it all sounded suspicious. Name given happens to be a manager of an electrical company. Also said to buy Steam Wallets to pay pick up carrier. Alarms sounded and I rang my bank after having given out my BSB and a/c number. Comm bank reassured me.

Just keep asking then questions about the make, model, etc they seek. Then ask about the region they are from weather , geography , they cant answer because they are in some rubbish dump in Nigeria , I sit in front of tv with ipad and WASTE THEIR TIME by leading them on and watch them humiliate their retarded selves . Very funny if you think about it . By wasting their time you are saving a victim elsewhere . I then report it to gumtree and get on with my life .

Gumtree scam: pretending to be “Rose Bryce” wanting my bank details via email. First contact is text asking for me to contact her “mom”. Luckily I had a number of items listed and so I queried it : they are clearly offshore scammers. Do not send them your bank details and block them ongoing.
