Caller: Via text message This is a SCAM and a hacker alert. I received a fraudulent text message pretending to be from Westpac. I never replied to the text message or clicked any links. I immediately called Westpac to double check. Sure enough there was an unknown transaction done on my CC, so I blocked the card and they will send me a new one.

Caller: St George Not a scam - it’s part of anti fraud. For those that are confused, St George and Westpac are one and the same - westpac bought them in 2008

Looked dodgy so I rang the bank on their 1300 number. Was legit - my card was being attacked so a block was put in place. Great service from Westpac. Thank you!

Caller: Westpac NOT as scam. Westpac and St George are the same bank as Westpac owns St George. I had a string of messages from this number just politely informing me about genuine transactions and that no reply was needed if I was the one who made them. But then one came up that I definitely didn’t make, and the Westpac fraud team intercepted it. I logged into my online banking and my credit card was wiped out by these fraudulent payments.
If you get this message and you are still unsure, at least log into your internet banking and check. Chances are that the transaction mentioned in the SMS will be on your list of pending transactions, and your available balance will be much lower.

Caller: Bank Fraud department Texts from this number are from a anti-fraud company that works for many credit card companies. I tested this by texting some gibberish to the number, I received a reply that said "Unfortunately we are unable to process your request, please contact us by using the number on the back of your card" I then texted "no" and received a reply "thank you for your response a block has been placed on your card a fraud officer will contact you by telephone within the next 60 Minutes". If you do not trust this you should block your credit cards on your banking app and contact you bank asap.

Caller: WESTPAC If you get this message, check your account and call your bank immediately. It is absolutely legitimate. I discovered that not only was there a transaction for the amount stated, there had been several other prior transactions with the same delivery company on the same day.
Do not delay, stop fraud today. They cleared half my account and I'm on hold with the fraud team at my bank as I write this.
