I just got this and I knew straight up it was baloney. I am going to ring Telstra about it.

The SMS to me was 'Our systems indicate that the creditcard (sic) used to recharge yr (sic) prepaid service is about to expire.(sic)Pls(sic) update with new card details for topups (sic) to continue.' Once again, these people give themselves away by their clumsy grammar/spelling/syntax etc. It it SO terse that a customer would be so enraged, that it would have no effect.

I received the following text, please note I don't use anything prepaid, and check out the spelling mistakes. Poorly educated scammers........

Its an SMS Server Tools, lets the user spoof any number they want.

Received 2 days ago - "Our systems indicate.....etc...etc.." ..........but they were spot on with card expiry date. How could they have known this??? And they had sent it to the 4 phones connected by this card!!!

Ha. You would think after all this time they would have got it right...

Yes I got a text from this 0429 809 270 asking for card details.

My reply... "Yr sh*t spellers". Scam up there with mysterious dead relative overseas - must send money to Nigeria. DO NOT SEND DETAILS!!!

Ha got it too! Um, correct spelling and grammar might be useful tools in a scam... May just be me but word to the supposedly wise scammers. Come on, make it more challenging.

update credit card details

got the same message. funnily my card is about to expire but i looked up the number because i didn't know what account the text came from. but clearly a lame scam. 18 July 2017

this number texted me asking for credit card details and i replied "you're fake" lol is anything bad gonna happen because I replied please help meeee

Scam!! These clowns think they are funny buggers sadly some people get sucked in and hand over personal details. If it looks dodgy then it probably is!

Got the call with exact same message today. My card doesn't expire for another 5 months so was suspicious especially as no caller info etc.

sent a text to my partner asking him to update his credit card details for Telstra Prepaid

Exact quote revieved 18th Jan 2017 "Our systems indicate that the creditcard used to recharge yr prepaid services is about to expire.Pls update with new card details for topups to continue." I'm on prepaid' and my card is fairly new, usually anything I get from Telstra or Centerlink or whoever has the name appear as well as the message. Anything with no callback instructions or incorrect spelling should be taken with caution.
