omg!! I live in Yamba nsw put a add on gumtree looking for rental got the exact same msgs as everyone else! new it was a scam! looked the number up n look what I find! so glad I went with my gut n new not to hand any money over!

Didn't know we could look up numbers like this otherwise I would have done this and possibly saved $840.
But I'm now wondering with all these posts wether the police can do something about this?
I'm from NZ so didn't go ahead with police proceedings because of personal beliefs but can the police do something since he's still using the same number as he just replied to my sister in laws add yesterday?
So he is obviously still at work.

Got the same message after posting on Gumtree - complete scam. Tried to reverse the scam but saying needed $500 to unlock the Term Deposit my funds were locked up in. Unfortunately he went cold after that.

I got the same text, posted an advert on Gumtree for house for rent. Total scammer.

Got the same msg other day got his name ect then rung cops

I have sent this guy $2100 and I have now seen I have been scammed :(

We just had the same reply - posted a Gumtree ad wanting a rental property and got a reply from this number asking us to send money. Obviously we didn't but it's easy to see how someone desperate or not familiar with the Internet could be caught out.

was watching Skins on my macbook and i got an alert saying i have a major security issue and needed to call this number. asked around and turns out its a virus and the alert wont go away. going to have to reset my macbook and lose all my school assignments and photos.

Complete scam! Do not give this person any money!

I put an add on Gumtree for a house and recieved a text saying they are offering a wonderful house it sounded really dodgy as I live in a rural town and it doesn't have any nice house like that so I decided to look up the number and what do you know it is a scam!!!!!
