Says they are from Telstra and I haven't paid my bill, but don't use my name, use my ex's. My phone is in my name, not my ex's. This is definitely a scam. They've sent a message today and one in Oct 2018.

Received this sms a couple of days after paying my bill. Checked my bank account and my Telstra account and both indicated payment was successful. Spoke to Telstra and they confirmed that my bill had been paid and there was nothing outstanding according to their records. Typically messages I have received from Telstra don’t show the number but comes up as TELSTRA. Don’t click on the links. If in doubt, contact Telstra directly.

I got the same message repeatedly just recently - was having problems with my bill at the same time - Telstra couldn't tell me if it was a scam but could assure me that my bill had been paid. I tried texting them back but it just replied that they could not understand my message - have now blocked the number. But how did the scammer know my first name and that I was having problems with my bill?????

My friend received this text message today. Hi P....., your recent payment to Telstra has failed. Please pay the full amount at Telstra.com/myaccount or reply "1" 8am - 8pm Mon-Fri AEST if you need to talk to us"
As my friend has had ongoing issues with Telstra they thought it was more Telstra stuff ups, but thanks to Reverse Australia have now deleted text.

On 7th July 2018 I received a text message saying "your recent payment to Telstra has failed"...... I had paid my account and after checking my records and with Telstra I confirmed there was no failure of my payment. Apart from contacting the relevant authorities I suggest you block this number. Criminals are not as smart as they think, the reason there are so many locked up.

I received this scam and fishing sms on my mobile phone with the mobile number shown as 0427 855 172 "Hi PHEAK, your recent payment to Telstra has failed. Please pay the full amount at Telstra.com/myaccount or reply "1" 8AM-8PM Mon/Fri AEST if you need to talk to us."

I don't know who Pheak is. It's a definitely a fishing sms from a scammer.

Got this text this morning addressing me by first and second name saying I hadn't paid my account which I had paid yesterday. Addressing me by my Christian names is what made me take notice.

Received text message from this number stating that my payment had failed. Interestingly, I have just received a refund from Telstra for overpayment after I CLOSED my account. Definitely a scam......

Yes, happened to me too. My bill was paid ok - although I had been having troubles with credit card payments. I suppose they calculate the odds that someone will take it as real and scam away!

I got the same failed payment text. Contacted Telstra who confirmed it was not from them. Telstra rep recommended I report to ACCC.

Yea just got a text from these guys saying i have a failed payment please go to this link to check your account. i copied and pasted the hyperlink into notes, looks like its going to http://Telstra.com/myaccount which seems normal. I blocked the called and deleted the message.

Received text conveniently after having a failed payment on my Telstra account (card expired). Ignored and deleted the text as I'd fixed my account yesterday but pleased I decided to check through who called me reverse Australia app.

Having had a late payment I replied "1" am panicking now just in case these scammers still all my info...is there any way to stop this happening? How can you BLOCK

I got the same message as well (funny enough I was actually experiencing Telstra billing problems the day before.) Thank Christ I didn't click that link on my mobile.) I googled the number & it's registered to a Councillor called Cr John Hogg at Hobsons Bay City Council (the Government) in Victoria. And this is his number! This poor guy has had his number scammed by a scammer & they're just going off & using it.
