I had the exact same email today. I advertised a mattress base for $250, and they hit me with so many emails to but it and ship it for $950. They asked for me to pay that amount using OSKO Transfer to a Sharlene Pearce, ING .

abit fishy, but i replied to the email anyway. without letting him know any of my info. always accept payment through paypal, because it its the seller job to send out invoice to the buyer, and the buyer pay through their paypal account. that way you are always protected and have something to fall back to as a safety precaution.

I was contacted via Gumtree soon after posting add for fridge by "Elizabeth Walter" from Flagship Marine with wording pretty much word for word of posts shown and asking for my paypal details.
Soon realised scam when I was asked to transfer funds on her behalf before promised funds would be deposited into my account

I smelt a rat after they sent me this email attached below. Thank god for this thread, I had no idea what I was dealing with, seems like gumtree is full of scammers :(

I have just made the payments now and I expect paypal to have emailed you by now, I sent $3,900.00 in all, To (roycooper501 @ gmail.com) paypal said they would be holding the funds and it will not be credited into your account because of the excess payments of $1,000.00 i added meant for pick up and delivery, they said they have emailed you to this effect, you will need to send the $1,000.00 to my pick up agent bank account so that paypal can credit the $3,900.00 into your account as soon as you have emailed the bank transferred receipt to them, if you have not receive confirmation of payment from paypal yet, i want you to check your spam or junk box if the payment confirmation is there.

Below is the pick up agent bank account details to send the money via Osko payment.

Linda Lasher contacted me for purchase, then sent email below then threatened with "jail" and 2 months imprisionment (from AFP) but I worked out this was a SCAM pretty quick reported back to Gumtree and Police who are tracking using IP Address.

have just made the payments now and i expect PayPal to have emailed by now if not you can check your (Optima231 @ protonmail.com ) Spam or Junk folder for the Payment Confirmation email, i sent $2,100.00 in all, to (Optima231 @ protonmail.com) i added $1,150 meant for pick up and delivery and the Osko Bank Money Transfer fee also, so you will need to send $1,050 to the pick up agent Headquarters via Osko Bank Money Transfer Money Transfer, PayPal said they have emailed you to this effect, i added extra $100 to cover the Osko Bank Money Transfer Money Transfer charges which shouldn't be more than $100, so $2,100.00 will be credit to your account.

Linda Lasher is a SCAM. Clearly targeting higher end sales on Gumtree. DO NOT TRUST HER, especially when the ad is not even up for 5 mins, you get an immediate text asking if available, asking you only reply to lindalasher91 @ gmail.com (no texts please).
The moment I read the message, I know it was a SCAM. BEWARE!!
