Caller: Who knows?!

Yesterday, it was "MelBOURNE City Council", for a short survey of 4 questions. She knew my name... As I hesitated, she hung up. Today, it was "Link Services" for short ten-second survey. She denied calling me yesterday, even though it was the same number - (03) 9112 5846... I told her I did not want to answer her questions today either, and she hung up!! Surprise, surprise!!

This number called saying they were "Port Phillip Council" doing a standard of living survey. Hung up when I said I wasn't interested as I didn't know if it was legit.

The number (03) 9112 5846 has called me for the past few weeks and when I pick up the phone cuts out. When I call back the number disconnects. After reading these posts I have blocked the number.

Caller: They said that they where ringing from Milburn City Council

Would like to ask 5 questions about the cost of living in my area.
I said no and this sounds suss.
They then hung up straight away.

Received a call at 5.20pm, Hiya detected as potential fraud and call was automatically rejected.

I answered my husbands phone and I was asked if I could answer 4 questions. I told her that my husband has passed away a few days ago. Said 'I'm sorry, would you be able to answer 4 questions', when I asked for more information she hung up on me. Just disgusting.

Caller: Said they were from my local council

Asked for me by name.
Said they were from my local council, wanting to do a survey about increased cost of living in Victoria.
I politely declined, they hung up abruptly.

My phone warned me that it was a "potential scam" so I just let it ring out. Blocked the number a few times now. They just use another number.

Left a whispering voice message whilst typing on keyboard. Could not understand the word.

Caller pretended from Banyule City Council, want to survey some personal info.
Obviously a scam caller. Can we report it to the Police?

Caller: Said they were from 'the' local council.
Accented caller wanted to do a 4 question survey Sounds like a fraud attempt to solicit for further information. Do NOT give them information. Don't even give Yes or No answers as they already my name. Suggest you just hang up.

Said they were doing a cost of living survey, I asked who was the survey for, they said for my local council, I asked which council, they hung up.

Caller: I don't know the number was 91125846 on 6th Nov 2020 5 missed calls.

5 missed calls from 91125846 . No message left. I never answer calls not in my list of contacts and if it seems it may be important I look into its origin. This number is clearly cause for concern as they're attempting to get information from unsuspecting members of the public by reading the information from other people here. If someone really needs to contact you they will know how if they're from different government or council departments. And as far S the fake Census claims you will know when it's Census time everyone and if unsure contact the department concerned yourself if you are worried that you need to provide so information don't answer random questions over the phone. Don't let these scam artists build profiles on you everyone or they could hack you accounts or be involved with identity theft.

Said he was from Wodonga council. Hung up when I questioned the purpose of the survey.

Caller: Lifestyles Victoria

Indian accented male spoke to me after the typical 2-3 second delay from an overseas caller. Asked if I was (my name). When I said yes, he said he was from Lifestyles Victoria. I said my number is on the 'do not call list'. He said 'I'm not trying to sell you anything ma'am'. I repeated that my number is on the do not call list. He then went quiet and I hung up on him.

Just received a call from this number but didn't answer as I didn't recognise it. After reading these comments I'm glad I didn't answer. Obviously they are still active.

This is a means of harvesting mobile numbers that answer. The company them sells the answered numbers to other operators. Implication just avoid answering this number (and related numbers) to avoid a raft of new unsolicited calls.

Fake number. Can't return call. Sick of these persistent scammers. Australian Telcos need to be held account for giving out numbers to obvious scammers.

Filipino accent. Said that they were from Living Victoria. Started asking questions like my age: I said I didn't feel comfortable and then he hung up
