USE YOUR BRAINS

Look at all the fake comments saying it is a "Legit Telstra representative". If you're stupid enough to fall for this scam then you deserve it. Why would Telstra call from some place in Queensland when you live in another state? USE YOUR BRAIN GUYS.

Telstra Business calling back. Not a scam. Some of the other comments on this page might be dealing with scammers Caller ID spoofing.

Definitely not Telstra, was on a live chat with Telstra at the time I received a call from this no. and Telstra (real Telstra) were able to confirm that it definitely was not them.
The real Telstra also stated that all phone calls and txt made by them is documented on accounts and that ‘we [Telstra] are not calling you without your consent or without you contacting us.’
The real Telstra does not cold call and any phone numbers claiming to be Telstra should be reported to Telstra directly for them to detect scams.

A call from the real Telstra following an issue I had raised. However I answered the phone to piped music for 8 minutes and 45 seconds before it hung up. Terrific service I don't think.

Beware: scammers are also emulating this number trying to extort funds.

Multiple calls every day from (03) 9107 5000 - people with Indian accents telling me my computer is under threat etc. I doubt that this number is a legitimate Telstra number - as I have received legitimate Telstra support calls from a totally different generic number. If it is a legitimate Telstra number - then these shysters are porting through this number - I'm sure they are actually from overseas. They are usually stopped in their tracks when you ask them: "Who specifically are you after?" As they are NOT from Telstra, they cannot know who you are.

A Woman with an Indian accent by the name Sarah Williams rang and said she is from Telstra. Wanted me to turn on my computer so she can remote access into it to stop the threat of somebody who is currently using my internet. When i refused, she threatened me that she is now going to cut my internet services. The number she gave me was from telstra (03) 9107 5000 BUT however she did ring from a mobile number 0439 209 121

Asked to speak to Mr ....., my wifes surname not the same as mine. Told me all about hackers getting onto my computer then wanted me to open my computer. Gave me the same number to call when I asked for a number to call back. Suspect, I hung up as he was being too persistent telling me he was from Telstra Technical department

Had someone with an Indian accent call me and it went to voice mail. Such a bad line as I had trouble trying to hear what she said.

Call received roughly 4pm Thursday 17 January 2019 on my mother's telephone line. Caller began with "Telstra about your Internet service," which always sounds suspicious since my mother does not subscribe to one and mine (at the same address) is not with Telstra. When questioned as to her legitimacy, she gave her name as "Olivia Nelson," her staff number as "D621587" and her return contact number as (03) 9107 5000 (ie the one we are discussing on this thread.) I then hung up and called a 13xxxx number obtained from Telstra's website. The staff member I eventually got through to, when she eventually shut up and let me ask the questions, answered: (1) No, that number does not belong to Telstra; (2) No, the staff number quoted does not even exist; and (3) kept dodging the question of whether anyone called "Olivia Nelson" even works for Telstra at all. She agreed that the call was definitely a scam, though. I then called that number back, and was answered by a recorded message telling me that Telstra had been trying to reach me and may try again later, followed by a prompt [CLICK BEEP BEEP BEEP.] Certainly a scam, but what appears to remain in question is whether the number she quoted either legitimately belongs to Telstra (quoted just to appear legit) or simply reconnects to the scammers.
(I don't know what was in the caller ID BTW; Mum's phone is not equipped for it.)

I just realise I made an error
The number is Telstra!
I just comment in capital letter and red exclamation marks that the number was a scam.

It’s actually Telstra from yesterday call and I accidentally dialed it. The department confirmed yesterday’s call but nothing today. I did it.
So this Telstra number

From Telstra, offering to fix my internet problems even though I use Optus. Offered a TelstraID D 865430 and a Telstra number to take messages (03) 9107 5000. Telstra confirmed they would not ring Optus clients.

The caller with foreign accent wanted to know whether I was "the owner of the computer." I said "no" and asked whether "the owner of the computer" could return the call. I then was given this number (03) 9107 5000 as number to call back. This may well be a Telstra number, but the number on the Calling Number Display showed 0027736167.

I once wrote to Telstra and was told that Telstra does not call customers in regard to internet connections or computer problems. If customers lodge a complaint they are given a reference number and, should a Telstra technician follow up the complaint, he/she would be able to quote the reference number.

Anybody calling Telstra in regards to internet connections or other complaints should always ask for a reference number. Apart from that, do not return calls even if it sounds like a legitimate Telstra number. How do we know that the number has not been hacked into and the call diverted to another number/call centre?

Scammers are ghosting this number to disguise their true caller ID. This is a legitimate Telstra number. I have spoken to Australian technicians on this number, they have arranged onsite repairs which have been effected, and called from this number to check the issues are resolved. As a number of people have already stated, just because this number is showing as incoming doesn’t mean it is, but it also doesn’t mean it’s not a legit Telstra tech support number, just a number used to disguise the callers location.

Generally Telstra support, looks like sometimes the number is spoofed by scammers. Usually the calls are a good thing though!
