Received a text from this number telling me I had won a $3000 travel shopping spree. Not sure what this is about as I haven’t entered any competitions.

I just won a $3000 travel shopping spree, I'm so excited as I've never won anything before in my life and the best part is I didn't even enter any competition ? I must be the luckiest person alive - gee I hope it's not a SCAM !

Caller: Explora Resorts It's actually not a scam. It's a 14 day holiday for 4 people (7 days Orlando, 4 days Daytona, 3 days Bahamas Cruise - includes 7 days car hire no limit on km (miles). All accommodation, free passes to Disney World. The normal retail price is $US3,898 which they discount by $US3,000 = $US898.00 for for people. Cruise includes meals but no alcohol. All you have to pay above that is your food and airfares. You also have to attend a 90 minute preview of their resort. At this point they may try to have you join a holiday club. Accor do a similar thing in Australia. You get a cheap holiday and then you sit through a presentation. You can always say no.

I also received the same text. I was suspicious because if it were genuine, the company would say who it is. I've blocked them from my phone. Generally, if it's too good to be true, it's a scam.

I called them back on my land line, she told me they own Marriott and lots of holiday retreats. I asked why I got this text as I also have not entered any competitions. Then she told me that I got this because of my travel history??? What travel history.. Ha ha ha Then she told me to confirm my mobile number and I told her I was not interested and hung up.
