Fraudulent call as a Telstra technician, saying pc not working correctly. Asked me to turn on my laptop and to open a file and unbeknownst to me took control of laptop. Took photo of me on phone to them through the Laptop camera. Used access to find cookies and to get into Internet banking and clear out my accounts. Very nasty experience.

Caller: Telstra Technical Department Yesterday I received a call from an Indian man saying that he was from Telstra Technical Department and that they were calling all customers to update their internet connection ("Really?"). I was suspicious immediately. He asked me to go to my router and tell him how many lights are on. I played along. I said "I can't..my router isn't in the house but out in my husband's detached office" and the door is locked so the kids can't get in (which is true). He asked me to go to my computer, and I said, "Sorry, my computer's in another room and I don't have a cordless phone". Then he asked me to get my mobile phone and he'd ring me on that. I said "Sorry, but we live in a valley in a rural area, and so have no mobile connection here." He started to get impatient with me and said something about not co-operating with them!! He put me on to his "supervisor" (determined little buggars aren't they!) The supervisor went through all the same spiel. I told him to ring back later in the week when my husband, who is a computer engineer (which he is), would be home "He will know what to do." I said. A woman rang today (Indian again) but the call started off with a recorded message and voice menu. She went through the same spiel, saying "Your internet security has 'expired'! I told her that I was going to report her to the police. She hung up immediately.

Fraudulent call! Started out with an automated voice advising our Telstra internet connection will be disconnected within 24 hours, press 1 to speak with customer service. I pressed 1 to get more information, could hear lots of voices int he background and an Indian woman told me that the connection is disconnected due to activity happening overseas via our modem. I asked for a number to call back, she gave me (03) 9028 7748, which I immediately Googled and got this page!! I told her it appears this is a fraudulent call and she hung up on me.

Caller: Male with indian or similar accent Rang me up informed me that I was going to have my internet suspended, and that I needed to give him my computer id re internet to rectify. Said he was from Telstra Platinum service(I don't have account with them!!) said theyd sent messages however nil reply hence phone call. I explained he rang on silent number. Gave me phone number (03) 9028 7748. he tried getting me to do a run command in windows (Windows symbol plus r, dont do it !!!!!!!). They will try to then get you to put in ASSOC after run command and then theyll try to get your computer id which I'm sure will lead to them trying to get remote access.) I had an idea what they were up to and got them give me their phone number, which was above one. Contacted telstra Platinum who checked my accounts with Telstra and they said no call.
As a matter of curiosity rang them back (Blocked my mobile id to them) male said he was Steven Parker and gave some id number. Beware they are after access to your computer and will try to get everything they can off it.

Caller: Claimed to be Brian Collins from Telstra Agent # 24325C Claimed to be Agent from Telstra helping fix an internet problem (data exposed, apparently). After much discussion (me doubting his credentials) he gave me this number and it directed me to this site. Told him.."sorry, he had lost all credibility". A few minutes later I get another call (from his supervisor) trying to convince me to go into my computer. When I called him out for the scam he made some comment about my mothers private parts and hung up. Genuine Telstra agent? I think not.

Indian man claimed to be from telstra faults (wife have reported an internet fault a week ago). He wanted me to download Teamviewer 13. A second man who could speak better english then took over the phone call. A lot of background noise like a call centre. He gave me his partner ID 674521939 and asked me to connect. I stated I don't know who you are? he again repeated to me he was from telstra he stated he had my internet IP address and phone number. I again asked how did I know he was from telstra and gave me (03) 9028 7748 to ring and verify. I searched phone number provided on Google and found this webpage. I asked him for an email to confirm and he then hung up. Sounds like a scam.....
