A bloke called "Darwin" rang from "Telstra" and told me there was a problem with the internet. Will be taking 48 hours to completely repair. Left this number and then queried if I would be home all day (bit strange) - then said he would call back in an hour to see if we had any major issues. What alerted me that the call was not right was him giving his Telstra ID number, I have spoken to heaps of Telstra employees over the years and they never give ID numbers - number given was D735953.

Received a call from Michael Muro :cell: 039016348 identifying himself as from Telstra and ID: D315828. Told me they had identified hidden and corrupted files on our home computer (how?!) and he needed me to select Ctrl & Windows button... thankfully my finacee realized what was happening and interrogated the guy who then got nasty and hung up. Strangely we had made an appointment for a Telstra Techie to call on us that very day re: a crackly line.... How did they know?...inside info?! or hacking??

I had Darwin just call me now. Saying he was from Telstra tech department and there will be an interruption to my network next Monday. And to call him if I want to complain. Demanded that I take his name, Telstra id, and phone no. Alarm bells started ringing as he was very rude and Telstra people I have spoken too aren't rude. So I hung up. He tried to call 2 more times but I didn't pick up.

This is very similar to what happened to my Mum - see http://www.reverseaustralia.com/lookup/(02) 8006 9285/ - the difference is that Mum called Telstra on their own line 13 22 00 and was GIVEN the dodgy number (02) 8006 9285 to call back on by the 'supervisor' (Thomas) of the person who answered the call (whose name was given as 'Darwin' - employee no.D735953). This happened around the same time as yours - ten days later on 13th October 2015. Reported to Telstra - they deny any involvement or internal fraud. Reported to Scamwatch & ACORN that we believe it's an internal fraud at Telstra - haven't heard a thing back.

Weird waiting on engin (renting line off telstra) to call me as my internet stopped 2 days ago and now im seeing all these saying scam.

Michael, ID315828 rang my wife at home and I rang him back from work today @ 1139. Couldn't believe that I could not be home from 1600 to 1700 to fix the corrupted hidden files. When I queried the telephone number first used to ring him back (02) 8006 9285) and his number returning my call (03) 9016 3648) was advised that 02 number Telstra North Sydney Head Office and 03 number was Telstra South Melbourne. With his accent makes me feel like General George Custer at Little Big Horn. History is invaluable, avoid Indians.

Received call from Darwin today, obviously a scam, same ID number and the guys is an idiot and got very angry as I didn't believe him.

Got same call from Eric Abraham, with same number and Id TL 4001, he said I had trojan so i told him to go ride it :) and he can send me an email about it.

Just called by these scammers, verified as scammers by Telstra, claiming to be Telstra technical. Do not let them get past first intro! Can't believe they can get away with this.

Long conversation from person called Erik Abraham who said we had got a Trojan 32 virus from IP address 801.62.20.668 and this was slowing down our internet. Again gave me a telstra id no TL4001 and address 66 Albert St Victoria South Melbourne. Needed to talk to owner about resetting our internet parameters. Very persistent.

Just received a call from this number. Claimed my internet connection would be cut because my computer had downloaded a virus which was affecting Telstra server. When I told him I don't believe him he said Ok, then he would disconnect my connection.

Generally when Telstra perform network/internet repairs on lines they don't personally contact you to apologise for any inconvenience. Scammers.

Its a good service from them.

Same scammers calling pretending to be Telstra, they are in fact criminals. Hang up on them.
