I feel stupid but I completely fell for this. Handed over ALL the information you're not supposed to... Hopefully stopped it in time and contacted my bank to report fraud. My card has been frozen and my son and I are deciding this is a life lesson we can learn from :(

I rang them back and heard a lot of background noise, the lady claimed to be from "eBay" with an Indian accent say, one moment I am going to check this account for you...what?

Caller: Scammer falsely stating they are eBay SCAM! Caller claims they are eBay and that someone has accessed your account to buy a $199 gift card and asking you if you wish to cancel it. They leave a phone number on a message telling you to phone them back. When you call them back and tell them that you will call eBay customer care they get all flustered wanting you to cancel through them and give them your details. I phoned eBay customer care who assured me that I am correct in thinking it was a scam and that they do not phone their customers. These callers try to get your details to rob money from you! When people get these types of calls no matter if they say it’s from eBay or Amazon tell them you will contact the real customer care number on the site. Telstra should be taken to court for issuing these scammers phone numbers.

Caller: Asian sounding lady claiming to be from ebay 'You have purchased an itunes card on ebay and $199 will be debited from your account, however to stop this transaction, you need to provide 'details'...' I received this msg twice. When I called the number she sounded very convincing and that she was from ebay. When I asked her where in Melbourne she was calling from, there was a pause. Then 'Please trust me, this one time'. I said I would call ebay directly and she hung up.
