This number called me and he stated my name. When I asked where he is from he said he was from "The Heart Foundation".
I am on the DoNotCall list and am aware that charities are exempt from the Do Not Call List.
I told this male caller that I know charities are exempted from the Do Not Call list.
I asked him to remove my number from their database and HE REFUSED to do so stating they are a charitiy. He said he would ring my number back in future.
Research on the internet shows that this number (03) 8678 2650 is the "Appeals department for The Heart Institute". Notice the different names - institute and foundation.
These charities use obscure numbers within their businesses to call from to ask for donations. Ringing them back leads to an answering machine which states they are the "Appeals Office".
I rang The Heart Foundation in Victoria on their local call number of 1300 36 27 87 and the obviously guilty sounding female voice said the number (03) 8678 2650 belonged to The Heart Research Institute which has a Sydney number.
I rang The Heart Institute on their following number 1800 651 373 and asked for them to remove my number from their database. I spoke to a Lisa Petroscuitto who told me that she will be passing on my details to a Val Froome. Val Froome would be contacting their telemarketer contractor to remove my phone number from their database.
Lisa Petroscuitto told me that the number (03) 678 2650 is the fund-raising appeals (for donations) office for The Heart Foundation.
Notice that they both say it is the other charity.
I rang The Heart Foundation in Victoria on this number 1300 36 27 87 and the obviously guilty sounding female voice said the number belonged to The Heart Research Institute.
These telelmarketers and charities appear to be staffed by people who like annoying people. Just like this website "reverse australia" is based in USA. They also get a lot of 'fun' out of this behaviour of ringing people to annoy them.

Got the scammer - diverted them to the Scammer line "Its Lenny" (Google it), they tried their hard sell for 9 minutes before giving up.

Had a call from the [03] 8862 3450 today. If all other avenues fail to have them refrain from contacting you, then my recommendation is to make a complaint to the Police citing harassment.
