Caller called, claiming to be from the ANZ bank. I suggested that they were a scammer and asked what it was about. They said I had to ring the bank but I hung up as they would not tell me what it was about. My view is that this is a scam. In the remote chance that this is really from the ANZ I would suggest that they employ staff who don't sound like scammers.

this number called me twice ,I also received a text message several days before saying they were going to ring .I have contacted ANZ and it IS a legitimate number but I told them that sending text messages with links in them and making phone calls if you have something to tell your customers is a bit stupid because we are always being told not to click on links and to suspect everyone of being a scammer ,the second call I got from this number was someone with a very strong Indian accent so you cant blame people for thinking it was an Indian call centre .ANZ should be conducting business in a better way ,if they want to advise their customers of changes to their Visa cards ,they should be sending a letter and /or a message through their internet banking site inbox .

Reverse lookup led me here. Legitimate ANZ number, calling about ending their Visa Debit accounts. Received text a few days ago informing me they’d call. Text had a link to the ANZ website explaining why they’re ending Visa Debit cards.

I told them that if they were genuine, the bank can send me a letter. I don't talk about my finances on my mobile phone to any one!!!

Just be aware that the people on here who are stating this is a legit call from ANZ may also be part of the scam...

I got a text and phone call about the visa debit card closing. I went into my local branch and it is actually happening. I sorted it all easily face to face

I think its a scam. ANZ are not ending Visa Debit cards, they are actively promoting them on the bank website.
If you had a message stating that, contact your bank from the contact number on your statements or your banks official web site. do not click links from an unknown origin email.

Same as above answers. Got a text one day about debit accounts all being closed, which does appear on ANZs own site, and text says that they would call, but no voice when call picked up. Sounds like maybe a scammer piggy backing on a real event ? We went into branch to deal with accounts, won't do it via strange phone calls. Don't give any information via phone is my advice. All very strange.

They quoted my name and asked me to identify myself to discuss about my account. I said how about you identify yourself first and tell me how many accounts do I have with ANZ? Oh I can't tell you that until you identify yourself first he said, then proceeded with just call us back anytime and rang off. Whether they were legit or not, they breed scammers by expecting people to give out personal information first without any identification from themselves and until they stop this practice they will never close the loophole for scammers to get in.

I too received an sms prior to this call, and was immediately suspicious, I then check the ANZ internal message system to see if they had sent me a message "Which is the secure thing to do", and there was no message, so as far as I'm concerned this number will be blocked. SORRY ANZ if it was you do things the right way.

ANZ and they keep calling. Asking for full name and dob when they're calling me! I asked if the information they had was public information (i.e. on their website), they said yes but still needed my DOB to answer any questions.... WHY? It may be ANZ but it's still a scam.

I received a call from this number tonight but I did not answer and they didn't leave a message. I too received a text from ANZ a few days ago to say that they were going to contact me but this is very strange as they have never conducted business that way before and there is nothing on their website. If they were legit then I think they would have left a message.

It’s a legitimate number, I have been expecting a call from ANZ, as I have received an email as well as text informing me to expect a call from them as they are closing the everyday visa debit accounts down. All the information is on their website.

Have received 2 messages from a so called ANZ text, claiming their were cancelling visa debit accounts. What a load of hog wash. Recieved a phone call, when I tried to answer, the phone showed me the call came from Clayton supposedly. Just another scammer trying to commit fraud. Beware it is not legitimate. ANZ do not send generalist text messages. Block the number and send it to scammer alert sites.

It's a legit ANZ No. Previously texted me they going to call me asking why I closed my Visa debit account. It's seems ANZ is loosing business. I just blocked both number.
