these people keep a database of company details & add to them periodically.. building up a profile of employees, names of business owners & directors, contact titles & purpose of business, then onsell it. the make 'our business contact information' into their 'product'.

Thanks for the info. I've just sent them a message telling them they do not have permission to distribute our information to anyone. Don't know if it will do any good though

The exact same thing happened to me today, and like Karen ^ did, I tried to call them back and got the same message.

I guess if you want to be on this list then it's ok, but yeah, these lists suck.

A lady called today said she was from "reach be in" something like that couldnt understand her, wanting to confirm business address & the managing director... Shoooooooooooooooooooooooooo pest

I just block these numbers, they hang up on me at my work too, so I look at the caller ID if I remember first and hang up on them.

I have had two calls today from this number. The first call there was a guy on the line with an Indian accent asking me to confirm my business address. The second call no one was there and it disconnected

I recently received three calls from this number. The caller was a guy with American accent asking me to confirm the business address and the name of manager on file. I asked where he is calling from he said something like retest arch ??? He replied saying this is not a marketing call and they will not sell my information to other companies. I don't believe him and I just say no all information was wrong but in hindsight I should have just hung up. This happened 3 times but I guess they will just keep trying...

I think these calls relate to Hotfrog.com. If you don't confirm your details any business listing you have on their directory is removed.

I had the same call but I ignored it by gut feeling. The company would be Reach DM by the sounds of it. If you confirm your details you will end up on something like "Impact List" Business lists which are Business lists sold to companies, often to spam you with their junk mail, emails and faxes. Avoiding getting on these lists will help reduce some of that unwanted crap that businesses receive daily. But, you could also miss out on some opportunities as well. It's your call. Personally, I'd avoid it. This company is making money out of selling your details to other businesses. But then again, Dun & Bradstreet hold all your details anyway so no business is immune from it I guess.
