Market research - surveys on behalf of local government. Legitimate. Market research is exempted from DNC register, if you ask them to take your name off their calling list like I did, they will. Hanging up really doesn't achieve anything - they'll just call you back later!

I used to work in market research. Common misconception is that if you are on the DNC list you are excempt from market research calls. In actuality, it is 100% legal for market research firms to call, as they are not selling anything and are conducting research only. I have worked for both small and large market research firms and what they do is definitely legal, if annoying. My tip is to politely ask if they could please take you off their list, and not call again. If you are horrible over the phone they are likely to call again and again. Just saying.

I just got a call to my Adelaide mobile and once again, no message left! I'm on the DNC register also!!!!

Stop calling. I don't answer calls from nUmbers I don't know. So stop wasting your time and annoying the hell out of me!

Just now received an unsolicited call from this number, yet I'm on the DNC list. What can be done to shut them down?

They called at 8.30pm at night but didn't pick up phone.If it is market research then surely there should be a law to stop calling at unreasonable hours.

They call for any bullsh*t reason, claimed they were doing research for my local council, well at 8.00pm don't ring me.

Wish they would leave me alone already. Right when I'm eating.

Market research! Rubbish. After a few questions you can pick what retailer the researcher is calling on behalf of which is illegal. I've caught out Just Jeans, a bank, an insurance and a telecom to name but a few.
