i've been prank calling this number for about an hour now they're none too happy about it. i have another 5 hours to kill at work so we'll see how it pans out over the rest of the day.

Tax/Debt scam ...links well with the other scam call a few weeks back.

I didn't heed the prior calls,(scam) warning about being taken to court, NOW I'm under surveilence by the cops & soon to have my doors kicked in & be arrested...

Hey people this isn't a scam. I owned up to my tax avoidance and got a much more lenient punishment. you all should call back and do the right thing.

Same message has been sent to us. I am sure the ATO wouldn't be too pleased. Have either of you contacted them?

Female caller asked for me by name and actually knew my name. Said she was calling from Security, when I asked who, she said Mastercard and Visa. When I asked for her number she hung up. Obvious scam, especially considering Mastercard and Visa are completely separate companies.

I found the automated message left on my answering machine hilarious (it helps that I knew is was a scam). He is clearly trying to sound Australia & is 'over slanging' it. It was a good 3 mins of entertainment!

I just got the tax threat from this scum on my answering machine, what a low life!!!

Tax Scam:
1. They don't mention any names or indicate to whom the message is addressed.
2. They mention "tax avoidance" - which is a legal way to reduce your taxable income, in accordance with the tax laws. i.e. it's not illegal at all.
3. Absolutely no prior correspondence via email, mobile (in person), mygov account, etc. - just an anonymous automated message... lame.
4. This time of year is when most people need to settle their tax assessments, good time of year to try a tax scam.
5. They threaten with a warrant for your arrest ... lol.

The number is still being used for scam, just received an automated call this arvo.

That must have been an informer as usually they just come and knock on your door, not advise you before hand!

Got the message from this number - there's little the authorities can do to stop them. the scammers have been using the same number for weeks and getting very rich while the Scamwatch people and federal police pretend to be interested.
