Left a message claiming they were from the ATO and that I had pending allegations against my name re: taxes and to call them at this number before they issue a federal arrest warrant. Had an American accent,was difficult to understand as the recorded message was over modulating and claimed to be ringing from Sydney.

This is a scam, they say they are from the legal department of the ATO and a legal petition has been filed against the person answering the phone. Want you to pay a tax debt over the phone. ATO confirmed this is a scam.

Have received 3 calls from this number before lunch today, also from "Legal Dept. Of The Australian Taxation Dept.". He's changed his name slightly to Ron Watson. Guess he has unlimited std calls he can make in Australia.

got two of these in two days - threatening legal action. I got Chen and another guy. I rang back and the phone was answered 'tax office'. I told them what I thought of their scam.

Same as most of the above, American accent calling from the Tax Office threatening legal action. Called back for a giggle but (03) 6107 9602 appears to be permanently engaged.

Message left on our answering machine by a man with an American accent saying his name was Walter Watson. He said that he was from the Legal Department of the Australian Taxation Department and that there was a legal petition against our name for Tax fraud. However, never once did he mention our name. He said to phone him back urgently on (03) 6107 9602 as there was going to be a federal arrest warrant issued. I realised this was a scam. Everyone, please be on your guard about these scammers.

He requested us to phone him back on (03) 6107 9602 urgently. I realised that this was a scam and never phoned back. Hope everyone out there is aware of this and doesn't get deceived by these scammers. Never give anyone your personal or financial information.

called the number back it was an Indian man told him I googled the number knew it was a scam & he hung up quick as!

Just had a recorded message and had no intention of ringing them. Use of an American accent and the threat of federal action immediately alerted the SCAM radar
