Claimed they are a government backed company. Said they could see I am on the Do not Call register and that they can block any unwanted spam/scam calls that continue to come through. Then said they can see "one of my registered debit cards" is about to expire and could I remember the expiry date. Told them that DNC register is a free service and does not involve any kind of debit or credit cards, so what was she talking about? She tried to argue with me that it isn't a free service! She had given me (after some nagging) a website address and a phone number - (03) 9021 2493 - not the number she was calling from, and a street address - 608 George Street, Queensland! Total scammers! This number has called three times in the last couple of days. My daughter answered first & said that they were from the do not call register. She told them that it's people like them that make us what to disconnect our landline. We only seem to get these nuisance callers. I later answered believing that it was from a local number but of course it wasn't. It's a pity that Telstra can't do anything about these people......we are very seriously thinking about cancelling our landline. At least with a mobile you can block these numbers. Had a call at 3.57 this afternoon.Sounded like a young Asian man called me by my Surname I asked him who he was and he said he was from call protect and could block any un wanted calls. I replied with" great I will block you now," and hung up on him and blocked his number on my Uniden pro blocking landline phone, best phone i have ever brought. We not longer get very many scam callers as before only the odd one every now and then, and they get the block as well :) Number rang my landline twice within a week. Obvious scam as I do not know anyone with this number. The number needs to be traced and these criminals arrested. Caller: Asian woman
Today my brother and i received a call from an unprivate caller (03526614370), because we have notified everyone that we know has our number that we do not use our land line anymore its very obvious it was a scammer. After exposing her she harassed us by continuously calling us at least 40 times in less than 10 minutes.
I was out when this number called. I think it's the first call I've had from them. Just checked here to see if it was a scammer. I love this website!
I'd say 95/100 calls I receive via the landline are from scammers. I understand Telstra offers a call blocking service, I assume for a price.
This number call us tonight asked did we receive any unwanted calls I said yes and hung up so sick of these morons calling Same number two days running. First time was a missed call, second time I answered but I said nothing. A slight pause and they hung up. Keep calling twice a day and either don't speak and hang up or they say something about my phone number being on the do not call register and they can now block overseas nuisance calls. They ask to confirm your number and address etc and they knew I was with Telstra, in fact one call they said they were from Telstra. Last time they called I didn't speak and they hung up. Yet again another scam cannot believe the ideas they come up with Mainly I can't understand what they are saying but they are persistent. They keep ringing back and it is annoying as it appears to be a local number. Claimed he was putting my number on the do not call register. Asked me to write down his company name.....Call Protect...and phone number..(03) 9021 2493....and write down....a number of letters and digits including the 3 digits on the signature panel of my credit card AND then was asked to read that back to him! Didnt fall for that old trick! Someone called and asked if I was Mrs X, and said she was calling about my telephone. I said I did not know who they were and I did not want to speak to them, I hung up before they said anymore. After I pick up the phone now I wait a few seconds and if no one speaks I hang up. If it is important someone would speak otherwise it is obviously a scammer. Sometimes I go along with them, it means they can't harass someone else. Every day this number (03) 5266 1437) rings not only once but sometimes twice and thrice, not once have they left a message. I am sick and tired of them ringing when I am busy or asleep. I believe they are serial pests or actually terrorists. (03) 5266 1437 - Claimed to be from Calls Protect, a government backed company. The real Calls Protect Inc. is a legitimate Canadian Company, he even gave me the real Calls Protect website address as 'proof'. When pushed he said he was calling from Melbourne, then Egypt, then Yarra River. I knew immediately this was a scam. because he was claiming that he got information from Telstra by way of a survey that was taken in my area a while ago. She hung up when I did not respond, when I called number back not connected. So sick of these scammers, can’t they get a real job? Didnt bother calling back Yet another overseas scam call. I’m on the do not call register and still get these calls that begin with a 3 second pause before person with accent speaks. Before the numbers never came up, now they are getting clever using spoof Australian phone numbers. So over it. A lady asked whether I'm Mrs. x. I said no and she hanged up without asking to speak with Mrs. x or whether she called the wrong number and no apology. I got a few missed call from this number in the past few days. Suspicious.
