Looks like they've started again. Message on my phone from a Geoffrey Watson at the Directorate of Public Prosecutions on this number claiming ATO want to prosecute me for tax evasion.

Same story - an ATO Office - James/Jason OÇonner advising a writ for tax evasion has been issued - called back and the line was dead. ATO have my mobile and not my landline.

Had several calls over the last year from the same voice (maybe different numbers though)
Caller is a SCAMMER for sure - posing as ATO officer.
Just ignore it - don't bother giving them the pleasure of calling back - that's exactly what they want!

No message left, called back and it has a voice recording saying this is an outbound calling number goodbye and hangs up

I received the same type of call today, from the same person with the same call back number. Saying he was from the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions Office and gave the same story as told to Bob. I am not calling back!

Very dodgy - left a message on my answering machine. Geoffrey Watson. I should call a lawyer because of tax evasion. We have used an accountant for years AND he said he was from the Department of Public Prosecutions in CANBERRA but his number was based in Victoria!! Idiot

Same. Geoffry Watson, (03) 5234 5058 left message on landline saying from tax office prosecution. Thought it must have been a hoax. Thanks for posting this discussion so I know it's a fraud before speaking with them.

Same as most messages already posted. Guy from this number called and left a message. A Jason O'Connor from the ATO. Saying that there was a law suit file against my name. Police have issued a warrant for my arrest. etc etc.

Straight away thought it sounded dodgy so didn't ring but I wrote the number down to Google today and look what I found - this forum, and as I suspected completely dodgy.

I got a call from Mike Harvey who claimed to be calling from ATO. Apparently I have evaded tax and there is a lawsuit pending against me.

ATO Scam. Why can't the police track them from the phone number they leave? Surely Telstra had the account holders name.

I had a call from same guy, told him it sounded like "B.S" to me and hung up. The number was still in my phone so called them back, they answered by saying it was the Taxation Office audit department but when I pushed for more information the line went dead so called back again (twice) but it rang twice then went to "engaged". I then rang the Tax Office on their 13 number and reported this obvious scam.

Called him back and he was very vague about any of my details and asked for my personal information. I refused, citing that I did not know him and he could not verify his identity. SCAMMER....!!!

Indian guy rings up, impersonates an ATO officer, tells you that you are going to court, but can't tell you which court or where, tells you the local police will visit you, but doesn't tell you from which station. This is a SCAM call, don't give them your personal details... you'll end up losing your money.

Prank call from Indian guy impersonating an ATO officer, message left on my phone today. Telling me the usual, they a claim in the courts against me, I will be getting a visit from the local police, they couldn't even name the particular court that I was supposedly being dragged into, or the LAC for my precinct, DO NOT give them your personal details, They are scamming us !!! This is the 2nd time I've got one of these calls, the first time was earlier in the year.... I gave them a piece of my mind.. this time round, I will still give them a piece of my mind (next business day), but will derive absolute pleasure from letting them know what I think.
