Caller: Indian Scammer from Telstra Technical Dept.
Indian scammers stole this persons number.
They called me and spoofed the phone number for my called ID to display (2nd time today)
Don't ring and abuse the rightful owner of this number.
Do what I did.
I try to keep scammers like this on the phone as long as possible. It annoys them and prevents them scamming someone else while they are trying to scam me.
They wanted to identify my computer OS by finding out the key next to the left ctrl key.
This would have been used to customise the remote hack for my OS.
So I decided to really confuse them.
I told them there was a caps lock next to the ctrl key.
They asked if it was Windows or Mac.
Told them it was an AmigaOne X1000 computer running AmigaOS 4.1 (aka as Workbench). Actually I now use a mac. But since I have used Amigas in the past I know a bit about them.
Of course this also meant their pre-prepared Mac/Windows speech was now worthless.
Got transferred to their supervisor. Went through the whole thing again.
He tried to get me to download some remote access software (from www.anydesk.com or www.teamviewer.com) to help them do the remote hack my system. Told them that there were no versions of these software programs that would run on my Amiga. I could tell that this pissed them off.
They tried to get me to download the Linux versions of the programs. Told them Linux will not run on my system. They repeatedly insisted that it would. I pointed out that I had been using Amiga computers since the 1980s and they don't run Linux.
I even pointed them to Aminet.net to show them "where I get my programs".
Kept them going for over 20 minutes before an automated voice came on and said I was kicked from the conference.
These people know nothing about computers. They are just following a script they will believe anything you tell them. Just keep stalling. Say you are doing what they tell you and then do nothing. Do not download anything they say. Donot give them any personal information. Lie to them. After all they started it.

Caller: Telstra Scammer stole this persons phone number.
A scammer claiming to be from Telstra Technical department calling about a virus on my computer spoofed this persons phone number so it displayed on the caller ID.
This owner of this number appears to be entirely innocent and probably does not know what is going on. So don't call and abuse him.
Instead try to keep the scammers on line as long as possible. You know it is a scam but they don't know that you know. My record is about 25 mins.
Don't download any programs they suggest.
If they ask fro credit/debit card details lie.
When they ask about you lie.
