Caller type: Scam call
Location: Australia
Caller: Apparently "Telstra"

Missed a call and got a Voice Mail message with a reference to call up. Called Telstra back on 13 22 00 as per voice mail and quoted the reference. The reference given is of someone else's account and was advised it was a scam call most likely asking for personal details!!! DO NOT GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFO! Ask to call them back through e.g. 13 22 00 a legit Telstra line.

These guys are updating the NBN network and need access to your office, so yes I get that we've had enough of them but unless you want your service updated, you need to just confirm that your address is correct. They followed up with an email and also a text.
Lol my husband did the whole "don't call me again", "no I'm not interested" shebang but in the end we had to confirm the details to enable them to have access.

My call from this number was from someone at Telstra who is supposed to be handling our NBN connection - which has hit a road block (how unusual!) I could not understand his accent and what he was saying about the problem conflicted with what the NBN technician had said (surprise, surprise!) He really did not say anything to resolve the problem, so I asked him to put it in writing in an email, as I cannot understand you. So frustrating dealing with these incompetent telecommunications companies. So if you get a call from this number, save yourself the mental stress, and tell them to put it in an email - in English.

Wanted to know if my problems with Telstra had been fixed. They were told to f##k off. This is a spoofed number scammers are using to gain information. When I investigated with Telstra they had no knowledge of their calls coming to me. Telstra told to post a letter if they wanted to contact me.

Said they were from Telstra but wanted me to provide all my personal details before they would say why they were calling.
I advised them to prove who they were before I should prove who I am
Scam!!

Caller type: Scam call

Caller: Supposedly Telstra - not so sure now.

Received a phone call from this number from a person identifying himself as Sam (spoke good English with slight Indian accent and called me by my given name. Could not quite hear from whom they said they were calling (due to me being in a noisy environment) so told them to call back later in 30 minutes. Person did call me back a few hours later. In between calls, I called the number back to see who it might be - I have made a lot of contacts with tradesmen since being here - and I got a Telstra message (I do not recall details of this message). However, within five minutes later Sam called me again saying the call was to confirm details (in restrospect, hard to know whether this was coincidence or that they knew I had called the number back). They mentioned an address for me - 400 George St, Sydney (which on checking is or near a Telstra store). I advised the address had nothing to do with me and that I was not a resident of Australia. I was not asked for my address though I was asked my DOB which I stupidly gave (and now regret). I do not live in Australia - I am here on personal business - and only purchased a Telstra mobile SIM a few days ago - hence new SIM and new mobile number - neither used before. In purchasing a new SIM I have had to provide personal details- in this case from a UK drivers license (though not clear what data was captured by the in-store Telstra staff member - I now need to check this with them). That the caller Sam addressed me correctly by my first name, made think they were legitimate hence providing the DOB, as both bits of information are on my drivers license. The phone call itself did not seem to serve any purpose other than to confirm details. In my case, they may have simply lost interest once it was clear I did not live here. Usually, I am quite wise to scam/spam/fraudster calls, though have let down my guard in this case. Suspect in this case the call was not legitimate and that Telstra has people on the inside helping scammers/spammers by providing first names at least. If they have my UK address then with my DOB I may have some problems pending - scammers have no geographical boundaries.

Given the mixed status of this number in these reviews, it is worth noting that legitimate numbers can be spoofed i.e. calls made from other numbers can be made to look like they are coming from a legitimate number of specific organisation.

Caller: Allegedly Telstra

Same story - persistent caller demanding personal information. When I refused to provide threatened to cancel my NBN order. Wouldn't send an email. Person was either arrogant or stupid - difficult to tell. Wondered why I would call back on the 1800 number that Telstra couldn't validate as genuine (I used their publicly posted 13 number). What an expensive shambles.....

Yes, this is a telstra number as others have confirmed. I'm in WA and nbn is just starting to roll out here. I rang 132200 to query this number and was given an 1800 number to ring. Telstra confirmed was the nbn people who needed to confirm that everything was working ok. If you look at "my account" , the nbn section says "in progress". Once they confirm all is good, they will remove this or change to "complete".
