This number is from Peakbound where i work. The reason why citi bank probably didnt know who we are is because you called some customer service rep overseas who doesnt know anything besides what he needs to. Peakbound is right here in Australia and we have been contracted from citibank to make these calls. Citibank monitors us very closely and even visits ur regularly. Okay? For those who decided to pick up and then not answer or just let it ring and not answer and then complain that the calls keeps coming, well if you dont pick up and the calls keep coming isnt that common sense? If you need to call someone and they dont pick up of course you would call again later. If you dont want any calls, then instead of being affraid to pick up your own phone and spending your time complaining about something without having all the facts, why dont you just try picking up with a nice hello and let us know that your not interested because i know that we would greet you with a nice hello and no worries. You can even tell us to put you on the do not call register and we would be happy to do that. Learn to face your problems, not hide from them. Make sense?

I have received 4 calls in the last week even if I have closed my Citibank account in the last 2 weeks. I have now called Citibank twice to remove me from the marketing/calling lists and still hapenning. Have placed a complaint on their website and going to ADMA if continues (Aus Direct Marketing Association) that fines companies for unsolicitored calls.

They are only doing their job

I've been getting calls from this number for several weeks now. They're annoying as they're clearly from an auto-dialer.
Don't ever give them your personal information - they should have it on their file if they're really a legitimate bank! Ask them to provide your account number first. Challenge them with your pre-determined security questions rather than allowing them to fish from you - they should already have your answers in front of them.

Sample complaints we have found for (02) 9191 1620

sri

I too have been receiving calls from this number, googled it and came here

I have been getting calls from this number for a few days, twice a day. I never answer it coz I generally screen calls anyway but thanks all of you for posting on here. I definately won't answer it now. By the way, I am also a Citibank customer, I think they have been hacked into.

Excel_Nerd

I have been noticing a lot of missed calls from (02) 9191 1620 too (too busy to answer phone) - about 2 per day. When I finally answered one I got (at first what seemed like ) a relatively genuine attempt to sell me life insurance (called something like Life and Live and apparently issued by Metlife in the states but branded under citibank). They promised to email me information during the call which never came through, and their phone call dropped out on me 3 times during that call so they had to ring me back. Finally they said I would need to confirm my credit card number to protect my security (I was like wtf you are the credit card company). Then they said I could just tell them some digits and they could tell me if it was right or wrong. Apparently they could see a partial card number but did not have my expiry date etc. They seemed a little sly, revealing some info to me but saying I now had to prove my identity.  When I pointed out this was ridiculous they said they could look the number up, I was put on hold, then suddenly I am (apparently) speaking to the floor manager of a call centre in Chippendale Sydney named "peakbound"  (www.peakbound.com.au).The manager seemed like a genuinely decent guy and apologised for the phone problems (call drop outs) they have been having - however I am a bit bemused that anyone would claim to be from my card company (no doubt there was some thin reference in there to be "calling on behalf of" or some other tosh). The way the whole thing has been conducted makes it seem suspicious. I don't understand how they expect you to select a life insurance product based on a phone call and without being shown any documentation.I feel sorry for the people who work there.PS: Thanks to others who have posted here on this topic.

Wake the f*** up to yourself you c**k-sucking dog. I finally got to speak to someone on the other end when this number calls me. he had all my details.just not my email address! i said shouldn't you have thisif you work for citi bank, then i said arent you part of a scam. he said no we are working for them at peakbound.I just called citi bank and complained ,I asked to speak to a manager , She told me it is a 3rd party working for Citi bank, I said that i do not want to be contacted selling things and this is really bad with their customer service operators do not know this number.she waved my yearly credit card fee. I also told her they never are on the end of a call, and call a few times a day.I would never give a credit card number out if someone called me asking for it. Its a worry when they have my date of birth and full name,

Hi I got a call from this number and they claimed to be Citibank trying to sell me a new product. To get a quote they need to get some "information" such as date of birth.I said I was not interested and when I got home I called Citibank to see if the product "Life and Live"actually existed.Citibank told me there was no such product. Be warned don't give personal details to someone who calls you.
