This number (08) 9174 3000 is confirmed legit from Optus customer service (Sales) - got a call from them after signing up with them for 5G modem. The caller knew all the details of all the other services, at the end of the call, did offer to "optimise" the other mobile data plans etc... but I politely declined. The caller was confirming the delivery address for the modem etc...

If this is a scam call. They have too much recent information to my actions on the Optus account.
The only explanation is they have access to Optus system in realtime.
They try to convince me to give them information to transfer phone number to my name. I suspect they will use it against sterling my phone number.

it is Optus IT to call back to help with my IT ticket. confirmed this as a message was left with a name which corresponded with my Optus IT ticket information. Optus send a Txt when a link for the Case notes and who is assigned. there is a chat function to confirm it was Optus IT.

Suggested they don't call with an unidentifable number, liable to do as I did and ignore the call before checking on this service as to who the number belongs to.

We called Optus for relocation of home internet. While on that call, they made an offer to switch our mobiles to them. I asked them to call back a day later once we thought about the offer. This was the number they called from. I read the comments here and got nervous so I called Optus back and asked if this was a legit number and they said yes, and that our mobiles where in the process of being switched over to them.

I did have a call back from the call centre but really Optus should have its name listed so call is identified. The person that phoned me simply did not know what sort of message to leave was left to me to work out what the call was about

Similar to many other comments. Called after receiving 3 porting request SMS, quite well written. "Morrison" asked for a person (not my name) with regard to porting to Optus. Gave no information other than indicating that I did not want to port my number. He didn't seem concerned that I wasn't the person that he asked for. He asked why I didn't want to port so I told him that I will contact Optus myself which I did, plus my provider. 100% SCAM!

Not a scam !!! For some reason or other Optus had to set up a new account for me to change plans, probably because my very old Legacy plan no longer existed. They said they would call once ready to transfer, and they called on (02) 9174 3000. It was same consultant and as I had previously identified myself only had to read out OTP they sent, didn't have to give any other i.d. details. Fyi, got great service ! That was the only thing that was suspicious ha ha ha. Not a scam !

Caller: Man claiming to be from Optus

Received a call from this number 5 mins ago. Male caller said he was from India, doing a survey. That he saw I had been with optus a very long time and wanted to go over my plan. It was actually more years than he knew. I only gave him a postcode and he said that wasnt what was showing on their records. Obviously he is looking at older data. That sealed it for me. Asked him to send me an email confirming who he was. Said he cant. I said goodbye. Optus need to jump on this immediately with added protections. Call did not show as Optus or possible scam call. I asked for his work ID . He gave OP8928.

The lady on the phone said it was Optus calling. Knew my first name and email address. Then said they would send a one time access code to verify it was Optus. I read out the code but she said she didn't know the code, ie, the code was invalid. So sent another one. Same thing.
No idea what was going on but did not give out any personal info, except confirming surname and postcode.
She also knew how long I had been with Optus, so not sure if it was legit or just a bad operator.
