From page: http://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/about-us/fundraising
The NSW Rural Fire Service Association (RFSA), an independent and separate organisation which represents our volunteers and staff, does sell raffle tickets over the telephone as a fundraising initiative. These raffles are conducted through a telemarketing company and comply with the requirements of the NSW Department of Gaming and Racing. The operators are required to establish their bona fides and offer a return call number. The Association may also send out pledge letters but does not solicit donations.

Called and didn't leave a message. I've now blocked the number so they can't call again.

Received today on my silent number, around 3 pm with someone seemingly out of breadth wanting to sell raffle tickets for the Rural Fire Dept, Haven't given an answer re this and asked them to call another day. Checked to see if fraud as have very recently had a couple re scams.

QUOTE from another post: They're legit. They're not begging, they have raffles with fantastic prizes. It's the NSW Rural Fire Services. They raise money for new equipment etc. They're a registered company with an ABN number. I've dealt with them before - I just forgot who it was when I saw their number in my messages so here I am. They're a worthy cause and, as I said, have great raffle prizes.
Total crap probably posted by the scammers!!!

Yep - It's the RFS and apparently we cannot do a thing about them calling. Asking them to stop does not work. Why can't we block these just like on our mobiles?

Caller: Representatives of the RFSA. Why are they looking for funds or donations, have they already spent the $51m they got early in the year?

The calls are NOT from the RFS themselves, but the RFSA, which, as stated above, is an independent and separate organisation.

This is a scam. They are not associated with the NSW Rural Fire Service/Association/Brigade.

Had this number calling a lot over probably more than a month. I don't usually answer and they don't leave a message. I've picked it up a few times, and get hung up on after a few second delay
