Yes, it's a scam. And it's a disgrace. An elderly or mentlaly ill person could get such a message and it could bring no a heart attack or serious panic attack. I hope the ATO have put the police on to finding these disgraceful scammers.

She left her scam on our answering machine today. How do we get this person stopped? Do we get the police involved? The government need to put a stop to this.

My wife just received this call at home. I work for the ATO and I can confirm that this is a scam. If you're ever unsure, simply open the white pages & contact the ATO switchboard to confirm a number

If you can, please get back to me on this email address : joyjoshi95 @ gmail.com

Hubby had call on answering machine from female very thick infian accent barely understood. Name jennifer Smith. Said had commited serious fraud with A.T.O and warrant issued police be here within hour to arrest unless ring her back. Said Do Not Ignore as could end up in jail. Seriously must think we are stupid or something. Hubby doesnt use internet and only on pension lol so doesnt have anything to do with A.T.O! Government needs to do more to catch these scamming scumbags before someone elderly or seriously ill gets caught up in their scams and loses alot.
Probs calling from guarn(not sure of spelling) or somewhere.. report to authorities if receive a call

Got a RECORDING of a lady telling me that I was being investigated for tax fraud by the ATO and that they would require more personal information from me to confirm, complete bullsh*t, could clearly hear it was a call center or something with multiple other people in the background. DO NOT ANSWER - waste of time, government should be shutting these lines down.

Received a message on my answering machine, saying a charge is pending for tax fraud and 'do not disregard this message or I will have no choice but to proceed with legal charges'. What a load of bollocks. How do these people sleep at night?

It's a dumb SCAM. Hang up. They are pretty dumb themselves to expose their telephone number. Most use Skype!

Got a message today from a heavily accented indian saying they are from the ATO and threatening us with tax fraud. They wanted us to ring them on this number. Have reported it to ACORN. How can they not be traced when they are giving out an Australian phone number????

I've just had a call from "Elizabeth". Firstly, she said good morning (it's 4.10pm). She had a think Indian accent. Saying the ATO are coming to serve a warrant for my tax fraud! She continued talking and gave a number (02) 9099 5755. I had no chance to respond. I assumed it was a scam because surely the ATO would first send a letter?

Male with Indian accent left a message threatening legal action for something I couldn't understand and ignore at my peril. Checked the phone number which led me to here. A scam as I suspected.
