Claiming to be from ATO. They about to issue a warrant for my arrest but when I asked them for my name of the person the warrant was for they couldn't give me an answer. I received this many times and all have overseas accents.

we received the call as well and the guy left a message saying not to ignore the call and left a name as James Appelten ! Yes, ATO will send a notification if there are any issues first and it will be long way to get a warrant before arrest.

I have had the same call today 25/08/2016. So for others who are receiving the same calls be aware that it is still ongoing. Why is our government allowing this to continue.

Claiming to be from the ATO, asserting that they are about to issue a warrant for my arrest due to tax avoidance and tax evasion.

yes, he said they received a complaint regarding tax evasion and then mentioned possible arrest. the ATO sends a review notice by mail before calling. Tax arrears rarely lead to arrest and gaol. Clearly this is spam.
