This number has been calling me constantly on my mobile for over a fortnight now. sometimes once a day, often 2-3 times a day.
Scam Call from (02) 9037 8569, (02) 8015 2270.
Same old story's, saying everything from "Your computer ID is being in multiple locations" (ie its pirated) to "Illegal activities look like they are coming from your PC", to "You have a virus" etc.
Proof of that its your PC is always given via product ID lookup (product ID not Serial Number, should be a hint that is often missed by the layman).
I tend to play along at first just to see what they will try (providing I have a few minutes to spare), but when it happens multiple times daily, it gets ridiculous.
I finally had my last call from them a few days ago when I really went to town on them with a mouth full of everything I could think of (without actually swearing) telling them to put me on their do not call list and NEVER call me again, then hanging up before he had a chance to reply.
So far, I'm surprised to say, I Haven't had another call from them. Could be coincidence.
I wasn't going to voice any of this but my family is starting to get the same calls from the same people and I'm starting to realise its really widespread. I figure the more people complain quoting their contact number then the easier it will be for people to find out with a quick search of Google that its a scam.

Rang three times tonight with a man with an Indian accent, then a woman came on and advised my computer ID number was being used illegally. Very persistent and rude when I refused to believe them.

This 'Michael Yemens" is a persistent little prick, but if you hurl enough abuse at him he gets sick of it eventually.

When someone calls like this, just ask them if they know who they have called. And then tell them you are eg. "Computers R Us" and they have called a computer company that specialises in fixing up and rebuilding computers. They will hang up very fast and put you on their DNC list. They don't want to deal with experts, they want mugs. Or tell them that you don't have a computer, you only have an old IBM typewriter if they want to fix that up for you.

Play these telemarketers at their own game.

Michael Yemen called me. Abused my wife for hanging up, threatened me with locking me out of my computer. He left a very abusive message on our message machine. He asked me to do a few checks on my computer. Then I queried him on whether he was a scammer and told me he was not going to give me more then 10 minutes to ring windows and verify who he was before he disabled my windows. Then told me to go to www.win24sc.weebly.com and down load a file. At which stage I told him not to call me and that I will be reporting him. After a bit more abuse and accusations I hung up.

Says he is from "Windows in Sydney", and that my computer has been hacked and is being used for "illegal criminal activity" (as opposed to "legal" criminal activity perhaps?). I hung up on him once and he called back. I/s to give me his phone number and I would have my technician call him. He has an accent - Indian, perhaps - and is very abrupt when questioned.

Has a call saying my computer was hacked. They gave the call back number (02) 9037 8569. I called back and I said I had anti virus and the computer works fine. They gave up when I said I would not change anything on my computers and they could not do anything... Its a scam as far as I can tell... Name given was James Martin ... Sounded like a call from India

15 phone calls registering +212 on the mobile with a similar message all in very quick succession. Guess I kept them busy. I was driving and took the call on hands free, then checked out the facts I noted with Microsoft (number from contact us) then this site. Thanque to all the posters on this site - 1000 goodonyas.

Just received three calls from "Global Connect" on behalf of Microsoft saying my computer had been hacked and they would fix it for me. Asked them to verify the purpose of the call several times which got "Mark" a bit rude (he had a strong accent). He suggested I ring this number to verify his credentials and also a UK number 203 051 6831 as they are (apparently) based in London. He was aware of my location in Australia. Interestingly he told me to hold (he didn't put the phone on mute) and it sounded that he was having success with someone else.
I hung up and won't be calling back !

Under no circumstances provide any information nor access to your computer or other devices. These are all scams. If they do gain access they can lock out your device and request that you pay money for access to it again.
Just hang up on the scammers.

I work in the computer security industry and my father was cold called at home.
My father called me quite concerned and i told him to provide them my mobile number.
I spoke to a fellow called Michael Yemen with employee id: ms7008, who said he was from windows corporation and my computer with clsid: 888dca60 had a problem.
I asked to call him back and he provided this number: (02) 9037 8569.
I spoke to reception and his manager. All the men seemed to have a strong indian accent.
They claim to offer computer security services and offer antivirus software. The do not work for microsoft, but a company called gcc corporation and provided their address at 1 epping road, North Ryde.

I informed them that i will be reporting them to the Australian Federal Police for Fraud.
