Jason O'Connor left a message on my voice mail on Friday saying that the ATO was filing a lawsuit against me. The ATO does not ever leave messages like this and only provide a 1300 number to call back on. I called Mr O'Connor on Monday to see what he would say and he just kept blabbing on about my arrest. Report this scam to www.scamwatch.gov.au and don't give this gentlemen (being kind here) the time of day

Jeff from the ATO Audit Dept saying I had paid the incorrect rate of tax between 2009 & 2014 and I should contact someone for legal advise. Asked if had an adviser I could contact. I said yes, my employer would assist me. He asked who that was. (ATO would know this). I told him I worked at the ATO and he hung up.

Scum of the earth threatened me saying there was a warrant for my arrest due to tax fraud, that cops were on their way to my house and would be there within the hour. This scumbag was so rude and aggressive I swear if I ever got hold of him I'd soften his skull

Similar to most - we have received a call with an 'automated' message from somebody who cannot speak English properly and who was difficult to understand but advising that police would be around to arrest us for tax fraud. He didn't mention any of our names. I wonder if the police or communications industry are going to do something about this? We are based in Townsville.

Have had messages from this number on my machine over several weeks now, the most recent yesterday after a break of about a month. I spoke with the ATO when it first started happening and of course was advised that it is a scam. I was further advised that the ATO would never contact anyone by telephone regarding a matter such as the one referred to in the scam. An official letter would be sent. Also, the ATO uses 13 numbers, never a normal eight digit number with an area code. Most people would probably see right through this scam but there are those who would not and this sort of activity needs to be stopped.

I received a call from this number at 1008hrs on 15 July, 2016. The automated voice claimed they were from the ATO and stated that, as losses had been recorded against us, Police would be approaching our location shortly with some paperwork for my arrest. The message was recorded on my answering machine and I will be seeking to take the matter further. (Pretending to be a Commonwealth Officer is an offence).

This guy called me at work three times yesterday. First two times I hung up as soon as he started his spiel. Then he left a message on our answering machine after hours. Same content - Indian/Pakistani accent, Jason O'Connor, from the ATO, warrant for my arrest, left this number (02) 9037 8331. Why can't the police or Telstra prosecute whoever owns or is using this telephone number?

Anybody reading this also note that the ato doesn't employ Indians for this exact reason.....they almost had me convinced last week that it was real until I continued to question him about this so called tax evasion bill and he got really angry at me he stated it was from 2009...I was still in school that year he said ok if I didn't believe him the police would be at my house within the hour and hung up.

Message left on my answering machine from an Indian or Pakistani sounding man saying 'this is an automated message from the ATO'.
With a very strong Indian or Pakistani (mixed with a little American) accent he says his name is Jason O'Connor and he's calling from the Australian taxation office.
Then starts saying something like 'the nature and purpose of this call blah blah' (couldn't understand the rest of it). Then continues to say 'One of the police officers from the local police dept vill be approaching you at your place to provide you all the documentations of this case and a varrant for your arrest. So before the things go wrong at least you or before the police officer from the local police dept vill approach you and issue a varrant for your arrest, kindly call us back on the call back number which is (02) 9037 8331. I repeat myself on the number again which is (02) 9037 8331 blah blah' (couldn't understand the rest).
Finishes off with 'This is Jason O'Connor from the Australian taxation office thank you and have a wonderful day'.
This would be very disturbing and upsetting to some! Why do they get away with this? Get your English right idiots!
