I think they just need some data to support research related to travel within Australia, something to do with government spending and budgets. So I kindly gave the information they asked. I don't think I was asked about anything that was invading my privacy. But that's just my personal option, I think researches are pretty important for government and large organizations to know where they want to spend money on.

But that's just my personal opinion.

Should be a law against this harassment.

They have tried to call at least 2-3 times per day in the last week alone. I’ve blocked their number but my phone still sms’s Me when they try.

Just had the same claiming to do a survey for tourism Australia. I got back from the Philippines last night so thought they may have got my number as I gave it to immigration. The lady sounded genuine enough but after she asked about postcodes I politely said I’m a bit uncomfortable. She offered to give credentials like abn etc. I said those are all public information. To her credit she politely said if you’re not interested then just say so, which is far enough.

Scam number called back hung up

"Engine" conducting market research for Tourism Research Australia (Government body). Just questions about any travel you have done recently and a few demographic questions. Not a scam. Look up the survey (NATIONAL VISITOR SURVEY).
You can safely opt out and request to be added to the do-not-call register to never be called again from Engine.

Now you know it is Government sponsored research to help in deciding how to spend taxpayers funds?

He called at 7.30pm and claimed to be from Aus Gov Tourism I questioned his status etc and he confirmed he was contracted by them to collect data.He asked my age and I refused so asked if I am more comfortable with an age range.he was very polite and pleasant which could be a skill as in sales people however I object to being bailed up at any time by anyone not knowing my current activity...Please call me by appointment only!!!!!! This is my pet hate!! even if they are legit !Cold Calling Sucks so don’t even try with me,I will block you no matter how many numbers you use!!!!!!!

Caller: Engine Group (market research)

Legitimate market research company. I was called to take part in a Government survey regarding sport and recreation, I decided to participate in the survey (which is a rare thing!) and the operator was polite and professional. Did some checking up after the call as some basic personal details were revealed but there does not seem to be any nasties with this company. If you don't want to take part, just politely say no.

Has called my sons mobile everyday for the last 5 days. He hasn't answered and won't be now he knows.
