Another fkn troll using a call centre/'scattergun dialling' to bludge money. I'm so sick of these creeps! I only donate to specific charities, and anyone who rings me asking for money doesn't stand a chance. With so many people being trolled this way nowadays, one would think legitimate charities would wake up to the fact that are just bugging people and putting them off donating to what are often worthy causes. As a matter of principle, I will never donate to anyone who rings me. I don't answer phone calls if I don't recognise the number (I have noticed that most Australian based charity trolls' phone numbers usually begin with (02) 8 or (03) 8 something; or are private numbers, which I will never answer. Had too many scammers ringing up from them. I've said it before and I'll say it again: WE NEED STRONG LEGISLATION WITH HARSH PENALTIES FOR THIS TYPE OF TROLLING AND SCAMMING! A pox on them all. Along with many others, I've blocked this number.

I suspect a machine makes the call with the expectation that enough people will call back. The idea is obviously to reduce overheads and whether it is a legitimate charity or not, in my opinion, it should not be allowed. What it means to me now is that I will probably only return calls from numbers I know.

Doesn't Matter

Hi everyone, I am really pissed off with this organisation and shame on them. This is a contact centre number. They are making these calls on behalf of Kids with Cancer Foundation based in Sydney. The contact centre making the calls on behalf of this foundation should be sacked and they need to use another call centre. This creepy call centre makes the call - lets the phone ring 2 or 3 times, so we get a missed call. Out of curiosity you call back - you get charged for the call - and the call centre gives you the Spiel or there is a recorded message telling you who they are and how you can make a donation by calling their 1800 no. The contact centre are sleazy bastards and should be sacked. Here's the insane thing about it - I and my family have made donations to this organisation and we do so anonymously - as with all or any donations we make elsewhere. Getting deliberate missed calls from this organisation will stop me donating to this fund. If Kids with Cancer Foundation are serious about their fund raising well they need to change the contact centre they use. The reason being - you want money from me - then "bloody well speak to me" and also tell me where you got my number from as it is unlisted. Treat me with respect and I will respect your organisation. The upshot is - in this day and age with call number display. If I don't know the no. - I will not answer the phone and I sure as hell will NOT CALL BACK. Lost opportunity. Kids with Cancer Foundation - shame on you!

Thanks for the info everyone. I created a contact in my phone called 'bullsh*t marketing' which I add numbers like this to. It's a blocked contact so easy to stop repeated calls from a bad number.

Received a call from this number early this afternoon on my landline; however, they stopped calling after three rings. If they had continued calling my answering machine would have switched into play (I've come to realise that this is the best way for me to vet my incoming 'phone calls). I then dialed *10# which retrieves the unanswered 'phone number. I believe it's the Kids with Cancer Foundation. I do not donate to charities who contact me via telephone as it could be a scam.

Caller: "Kids with Cancer Foundation" (Possibly fake charity)

I have blocked several calls from "Kids with Cancer Foundation" and yet they keep calling on different numbers. Hard to believe this is not a scam. I called the 1800 number to tell them to stop bothering me, let's see if they do.

Disgusting conduct from a "charity".

Had this guy ring me on this number, saying he was with kids with cancer foundation would I like to buy raffle tickets. I told him I just had a form in the mail from them and had already purchased tickets that way. His reply "oh that must be another foundation with a similar name to us, they go around the malls and stuff and we don't".
Sounds like a scam to me!!!

Get these calls all the time from CHARITIES i let them ring out, we donate to 3 charities every year through subscriptions however just found that these charities SHARE your phone No. Under their certain terms they (may share to THIRD PARTIES) WTF! I donate money & the charities donate my personal details to third parties. Ill donate to salvos on the corner where i dont have to give all my personal details! all subscriptions cancelled with written clause!

Automated message stated that I had been in an accident and they were trying to work out my payment - instructed to follow prompts, press the number corresponding to your need (one included not having been in an accident).

they just called me I didn't answer but after reading all these comments I'm glad I didn't. If anyone calls at this time of night (dinner time) I never answer but occasionally I call back. Anyone of importance will contact me by other means.

It's very sad that a charity like this uses companies like this who uses these underhanded ways to raise money for a worthy cause.

These charities are like fleas on a dogs back...very numerous..maybe the Italian system is the best...they automatically take one percent of your salary and distribute it to whatever charity you choose on your tax form...this makes these garbage calls unnecessary...only problem..if you dont nominate an italian charity on your tax form..the catholic church automatically gets your one percent.
