This is a scam caller who hangs up to see if you answer, them immediately after a scam charity or some type of scam for either money or advertising will call you!

Any home call I get and the number is not in my contacts , I don't answer. I then wait a few minutes and dial 101. 99 per cent of the time there is not one left. I then google the number like this one. If it is a scam ,I go to recents and add the number as a home number with a christian name of their phone number and a surname in caps,SCAM
Works evertime.
It takes the guess work out of should you answer or not.

So sick of these scammers calling, they seriously need to get a life, 2 in 2 days we've had, I have a medical condition that makes me weak & sometimes I sleep during the day and yesterday as I was drifting off to sleep the one using this number called. so much for a silent number & the DNC can't do anything as the numbers are routed from SE Asia to Aussie numbers to make them look Legit, I post these numbers on the AFP & Scamwatch as well as they go after these ones.

(02) 8838 3009 rang this morning and hung up. Rang again 3 hours later with some charity shill.

Telemarketer for Red Cross.

Answer call and it hangs up. Daily calls.

Lots of calls from this and if we don't answer right away they hang up. Very annoying

had (02) 8823 3009 call my work and i answered the phone with our business usual and he started on his speel with the red cross something something organization about helping the homeless and less fortunate and so forth. i didnt get to speak at all till he was finished his speel and wanted to send raffel tickets out to our area and when he finished as soon i said we were a nation wide business he had to go through head office he hung up immediately. no questions asked i didnt even get to finish my sentence. i "called back" the number mainly so i could see what the number was it said it wasnt connected or something. the bloke was british also

we get numbers like this. I never call back. They want to hang up who care. I wouldnt give over phone. Say I dont have a card I can use(not lying about saying I dont have a card just wont use it for scammers)

there is one who said
"someone in this house hold has had an accident in the last 2 years"or similar
so I replied " not on this number(remeMber we have just changed to a silent number with NBN)"this is a F scam how dare you try and scam me its........ THE PERSON AT THE OTHER END DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING ITS SCRIPT"Ha Ha anyway I can block numbers on my home handset as well as mobile....the list is growing believe me. Unless I reconize the number I wont ring back especially a STD call evan though they are inc in my home phone internet plan.
I am putting this as a scam since they hung up plus it appears thats what it is.

These callers don't want to hear that you already give to charity organisations. They'd drag the last dollar out of your wallet if they could. Make that $100. They wouldn't be interested in one dollar.

Calls from this or similar numbers are from scamers. They hang up before you answer and count on you calling back thereby circumnavigate-ting cold call laws......

Yep, I got the Australian charity story when I rang back.

Unfortunately, the 'Do not call' rules don't apply to charities!!! :(

the number (02) 8823 3009 called me. But I missed the call so I decided to call it back. "Optus advises that the number you have called has been disconected,"that was my reply. I then called a second time and it was probably a machine answer and it said "sorry to have missed you. Our call was about fundraising for Austrlian charaties," Something along those lines.

Had the same number (88233009) call about five minutes ago. Missed the call, rang back. "The number you called is from an Australian charity".Sounded like an OLD lady, she seemed to be from the "Australian Lamington Society", lolol.These charities suck like hoover vacs.They can call us ----- yet we can't respond by calling. Saved them in my fone, when it calls again, i'll be F**N given it to em - after i get their charity of course.I already give to charities (Canteen, Salvo's), maybe thats where they got my number. Who cares, don't like the way they do it.
