Had a call today, saying I had an accident in the last 2 years. When I Asked for identification said he was from Accident Investigation Bureau and when i asked for more details . Hung up.

Worries me that elderly people or people who may have had an accident would be sucked in and give up details. Low life scammers!!!

I had a call from this number a couple of weeks ago (7Apr15) male with a strong english accent stating he was from the Accident Investigation Bureau and that their records showed I had had an accident in the last 3 years......My answer was an outright 'no' followed with questioning him as to who he was, only gave that he was from Accident Investigation Bureau, apologised for taking up my time, and then after a few seconds hung up. The call got the better of me, so a few minutes later I rang the number and got 'optus regret that the number you have called has been disconnected'. A few days later, given they are making calls from a disconnected number I rang both Optus and Telstra......neither have this number listed on their services.

Just received a call they new my full name and said it was about an accident that i had in the last 2 years. When I told them I have never has an accident they hung up on me. How do they know my full name???

I got a phonecall from this number today from a male with an indian accent asking me if I had been in a car accident. When I pushed him to identify himself, his company etc he told me Andrew, from Insured then promptly hung up. Scam.

Ditto on other comments. Very hard to hear / understand but they knew my name. Said they were calling about a car accident I had. When I told them they had the wrong number they just hung up.

Just received a call from an English girl who knew my name. I couldn't make out what company she was calling from because she was talking too fast, I asked her 3 times and still didn't get a clear answer. Then she asked if I'd been in a car accident, when I asked for the details she hung up. Sounds like a scam. I've heard of similar incidents where they call and hang up on you in the hope you will call them back and that's when they somehow get your important personal info off your phone. They also do it via text message (usually threatening stuff eg, "If you don't stay away from Rachel I'll smash your head in") of course the victim is curious and calls them to find out what the hell is going on and that's when they get your info. If it sounds suss it probably is suss, don't call them back !!

Had a call from the number in question. English dopey accent, question about accident within 3 years. Asked them what accident- he apologised for bothering. I asked more questions that he couldn't answer- he hung up.
