I opened a website looking for some jokes for kids. When I clicked continue my computer was locked and immediately an alarm was heard. A voice told me not to turn off the computer and called the above number. I did not do anything but checked the number with Reverse Australia. After knowing that it was a scammer I turned off the computer.

Pop-up on computer with this number on it came after opening a craft website. Alarms and recorded message raised my suspicions - not what you get from a respected protection service! It sounded like a set-up to take control of my computer. After much clicking I shut it down and computer continued to function normally.

Yesterday, searching the internet for a recipe when my computer started beeping and security alert pops up, and says "Your computer is blocked" and .......... and it asked to call Windows security Toll free ((02) 8660 1361. I phoned the number and a female answered saying she would help me get my pc working again. She also wanted to ensure I could log into my internet banking. I declined to do the test and she hung up! Don't trust anyone from (02) 8660 1361.
Turn your PC off and leave it for a while before turning it on again.

I got this pop up message supposedly from Microsoft. The laptop screen was frozen and the message was warning not to turn the laptop off and advising to ring (02) 8660 1361. I did this and got a person who when asked where he was operating from, told me he was in California. When I queried the Sydney number he became aggressive. I became seriously aggressive too. He tried to get my name, phone number, email address which I refused to give. He then tried to tell me he could fix the problem with me & that it would take 3-4hours or he could do it in 25min or he could give me the number of another person who could "fix" it for me, if I gave him additional info. I refused. I shut my laptop down. I rebooted it. Shut it down again and restarted it without any issues. I reversed Google his number and found SCAMMER . Beware of the heavily accented man from "Cailfornia" who has a Sydney number 😂😂😂

As per the above comments opened Edge, pop up screen locking the computer and requesting ring (02) 8660 1361. Supposedly from Microsoft. Definitely a scam. DO NOT ring the number or give any details. If screen is still locked after turning off the computer , contact your usual local computer service

I got a message that my computer was blocked, and that I had to ring (02) 8660 1361 to restore function. I spent so long speaking with possibly six different guys that had poor command of English, one of whom asked me for my bank details and passwords.

That's when I really smelled a rat.

Anyway, since my service provider is Optus, I phoned them for technical support, but they simply sent me a reference to their on-line support service.

Anyway, I rang the (02) 8660 1361 number again, but found my number had been blocked.

Fortunately, over a period of two days, both my internet service and land-line phone service has been restored.

Caller: Pop Ups all over my computer screen and very loud 'warning' sounds.

Warning sounds continued until I unplugged my computer and called the number displayed (02) 8660 1361) - Very noisy connection and I hung up and did not put my computer on again for 30 minutes or so. It seems fine now.
