They are a call centre calling on behalf of organisations for donations. In my case it was the children's cancer institute cause I am a monthly sponsor. When I get persistent calls telling me over the phone about their whole years worth of work and asking me for an increase in the amount I donate I feel like cancelling my donations altogether. I'd rather they email me instead, that's why I gave them my email address. Also instead of sending stupid promotional materials like magnets etc they should just use the money on research. Why am I writing this here? I should be writing to them!

I called back and it was mondial fund raising. There was a recorded message that they work with a number of charities.
I suspect they receive a cut for any funds they raise. Prefer to donate direct to charity thanks!

Caller: Caller on behalf of the Salvation Army

I make regular donations to the Salvation Army and the caller asked me kindly whether I would increase the donations, repeatedly reminding me how tough it is for some people to live through winter. Considering that I already make a monthly donation of $100.00 and also have to live to a budget (who doesn't?) I feel the caller was using emotional blackmail to try to get me to increase the amount. Emotional blackmail is wicked and nasty!

Like someone mentioned earlier, I too often feel tempted to cancel the donations altogether after such calls. Also, the caller mentioned the percentage that goes to actual help, that he was getting paid to make these calls, but does not receive any commissions.

What have I learnt from this? To tell the next caller with a hard luck story that he/she was using emotional blackmail and to get stuffed.

I called back number (02) 8315 2441 rang once then gets disconnected automatically.

They're stupid c*nts. I believe that they got my information from Sydney ferrys!

Greenpeace. Rang me several times during the day but when I answered clicked the 'phone off. When they called me again tonight & were ready to talk I asked why they called at a meal dinner time. Couldn't understand why I was not happy.

Called and claimed they are from a United Nations fundraising group for refugees wanted to take our credit card number but smelt something fishy so stopped- scammer alert!

Called me about my enquiry, so it was a legit call.

I'm on the 'no call register' and they keep calling. They even left a message, which tells me that they're scam artists, because legit call centres never leave messages. I know because I used to work for one. I even put in a report to the no call register that they wrongfully called me and that they are probably not even legit.

I highly recommend to anyone that receives a scam call to take down all the details about the call and report it to 'scam watch' and like myself, put your name on the 'no call register'. Just google 'report a scam' and if they attempted to get information out of you wrongfully, report it as a 'phishing' sccam. You'll know what I mean when you go into the report a scam site.

Another Scammer. I added the number to my blocked calls list... that is growing by the day.

No message left - ever. Very annoying. I can't be bothered to ring back. How did they get my number?

I received a missed call from this number. There was no message left.

They called and said it was about my recent donation. I didn't make a donation and told them just that. And said i was on the Do-Not Call register
