very annoying they ring and say nothing if I knew who it was would put them into police for harrassment

Hey guys.
Two points. If this number is claiming to be the ATO, then they are in violation of federal telecommunications act and also impersonating a federal entity.
In order to guarantee that your number is taken off their call list. Answer with the phrase. Australian Federal Police, then say cyber crimes division, please start with your full name and your state.
I was put onto this and it works. I've had it work first time after they continually called my number. Once I answered with a very serious voice, there was a short pause and then they hang up. Never to call again.

This is a scammer. Thanks to all the corroborating info on here, I have blocked this number in my phone.

They called today- went to messagebank but no message left. I trie this website to see if there were any comments on it before returning call. Great feedback guys - I won't be calling back nor answering in future either.

I am receiving calls from this same number several times a day on a weekly basis. They are very annoying & I have a block on my phone which obviously is not working. Can't Telstra do something about this I hate stopping what I'm doing to go to answer these nuisance calls & because I don't answer they hang up as soon as the answering machine comes on. Surely in this age of all the technology we have there should be something out there to STOP these calls coming through.

Call from this number said they were conducting a survey for charity services. I said not interested and terminated the call. Suggest DO NOT ANSWER.

Got a call from this number, as there was a delay in them answering I hung up & checked here. Have now blocked on mobile. A few minutes later they tried the home no. but already have them blocked on land line.

Calls for 50 seconds, doesn't speak, then hangs up.
Possible telemarketer/scam

This is another pest trying to rip me off! Since the calls started I have found that Telstra have a land line phone called a Call Guardian. It blocks 100% of nuisance calls. For anyone who is in your Contacts list, they are connected automatically. Anyone else has to identify themselves. Since they never will ID themselves they will never get through! Awesome piece of technology.
