Pissed off Optus customer
Posted on March 16, 2020 Caller type: Unknown Location: Australia
Optus has changed a computer program and they have been f*cking up bills left right and centre. We demand a paper bill now because we have over paid by just under $1000 and they have tried to bill us for a account number that dose not belong to us. If anyone is with Optus go over all your bills you are going to be surprised I am now onto the ACCC and ombudsman. Good Luck.

Caller: Optus scam Pay your outstanding bill, constant harassment, illegal debt collection practices calling 18 times in one day plus calling repeatedly after 9pm. The best part I have no Optus accounts everything I use is directly with Telstra. All you jerk dogooders “pay you bills and the calls will stop” really, pull your head in, get a life and more importantly mind your own business.

If you use the secret codeword, you can get a date from the girl on the end of the phone. That codeword is "wanafark". The one I spoke to after hearing about this met me for a coffee - seriously - press the choices to speak to a human and try it. If everyone does this, they will employ more girls and that's gotta be good for the eceonomy.

Caller: Optus Such an abomination of a company.
9 months of repeated requests to cancel home internet after contract was up. Each time I was told cancellation was successful then I’d get billed another $100 the next month. Had to cancel the direct debit.
Kept paying monthly phone bill but it would get barred EVERY 3-4 weeks due to the unpaid internet account. I would have to contact optus, explain the whole situation over and over. They would be very apologetic, reinstate service and tell me my case was escalated to some other department that would be in contact with me to resolve the problem once and for all. Was never contacted.
I made a formal request for a full transcript of all customer service messages and calls and refund of approx $1000 for payments they kept taking for the ‘cancelled’ internet account. Got no response other than an email 2 months later saying money refunded.
After all that they cancel my PHONE account by accident and didn’t tell me. To reinstate it they had to create a new account number under my name, and for the next 3 months I was unable to send/receive normal text messages. Multiple calls to customer service and I was told there was no issue their end I must go to Apple store. OPTUS had not enabled text messaging on my ‘new account’ they hadn’t told me about.
Even better, I noticed I was receiving email bills for 2 different accounts now, 1 for $500ish, contact customer support to check if it was just an email scam. Nope! When they accidentally cancelled the other account number I was billed to pay out the remainder of my phone contract and it was being handed over to a debt collector. A ‘debt’ That did not exist as I was paying my monthly bill, just under a new account number they’d neglected to tell me about after neglecting to tell me they’d accidentally cancelled my phone contract None of this info was available to me by logging into my optus account, it showed as squeaky clean. It’s only that a customer service rep probably told me a little too much info over the phone or I’d be none the wiser.
An absolute clusterf@%k. Screenshot everything and keep records. Don’t sign with Optus.
