Caller type: Debt collector
Location: Australia
Caller: Credit Corp

This is Credit Corp in Sydney attempting to recover money by blowing out the phones of third parties that may or may not know the subject of the alledged debt. They attempt to call parents, siblings, cousins, neighbours, work colleagues, anyone even remotely associated with the subject or their lives in the hope they can get to them. What they do is illegal, and they can safely be ignored. When a bad debt is passed onto a debt collector, the agency purchases the debt for 10 to 20 cents in the dollar and then attempt to collect the FULL amount from the original borrower (plus interest). However, what most people are unaware of is that once the debt has been purchased by a third party (in this case Credit Corp), the debt has been expunged for the original borrower, and that is the end of the matter. The only signature from the borrower is on a contract between the bank/credit provider and the borrower. There is no signed contract between a debt collector and the original borrower. Therefore, do not admit or agree to anything a debt collector says on the phone, as they will attempt to trick you into entering into a contract with them (if you're the original borrower they are after) and try to get you on a 'payment plan'. The statute of limitations means they can only chase you for a maximum of five years, but if you admit to anything or enter into agreement with them (even verbally), then that resets and you can be harangued another five years or until you've satisfied the needs of these vultures. Your best bet is to avoid them like the plague, legally they have no clout. All they have is intimidation tactics on the phone. Weak!

Caller: Credit corp who also run Wallet Wizard

Yes this # is credit corp debt collectors. They got my # when I applied for a loan through Wallet Wizard which at the time i didnt know Credit corp runs Wallet Wizard. Pretty clever from a debt collectors perspective. Only a few days after i applied for the loan i had a missed called from a similar number which actually came up as Suspected Spam on my phone and from Hobart. A women answered and told me she was from credit corp ans asked me for my date of birth which i refused to give her. I asked if she was in Hobart and said no Sydney so i told her what came up on my phone and she sort of chuckled abit. I denied owing any money and said im not giving you any details and then she hung up.They will keep trying on different numbers and i just block them. Just dont give or confirm any of your personal details. There is nothing they can do. With all the scamming going on in this world you can use it to your advantage simply by saying " nope sorry im not giving you any personal details coz this could be a scam" and hang up. 7 years people that debts are wiped in most states. I had a credit check done online and it showed me my "tiny" debt and the date it gets wiped. So its 7yrs debts get wiped, there is nothing they can do but keep calling and Wallet Wizard is run by Credit corp. Read the fine print at the bottom of the screen when the Wallet Wizard add comes on your tv.

my understanding is it is 6 years for all states ,where Northern territory is 3 years ,
Also from the info from gov sites the debt is not removed by the selling off of the debt to debt collector as far as i am aware , as it a sale of an " asset " by the original debtor ,

but if anyone who really know's and can point to real details, then comment

In reply to Anonymous above from 23/9/20. Statute of limitations is 6 years isn't it? Also, I can't find anything in relation to a debt being expunged once sold off? From my understanding, reading the gov sites, a debt carries over as is to the debt collector?
