My laptop screen froze and the people said they were from Microsoft Australia fishing for personal details on(02) 8006 7578

Scam. From the Accident Investigation department, and asked if someone from this phone number has had an accident, he also new my address.
I said no and hung up.

I have had many calls from these people this week and Yes A STEVE JOHNSON was the person i spoke to also.I have told them i am looking for my documentation as i suspected this to be a scam myself , i have reported it to my local police station but also to www.scamwatch.gov.au and gave them all the details , it would be helpful for everyone who gets called to ring SCAMWATCH on 1300 795 995 and report yourself and give them all the information.

Just got a call from this same number. The guy said he was from Sydney Claims Lawyers and working on a claim for a car accident in the last 12 months. He was very sketchy on details, when, where, who, or the make of car... He couldn't get off the phone quick enough when I started asking questions. Scam!

I got a phone call today from a man with Indian accent claimed he is from accident injury help line and told me I can claim compensation for my no fault accident happend in March. Initially I thought it was passed on them by my insurance company, it's Allianz BTW, and it might be the one really passed on my info.

It became suspicious when he asked my full name and D.O.B for legal purpose (so he claimed). I gave him my name but not the D.O.B. I won't give anyone my personal details by phone. I asked him to give me his details so I can call back. He said he will pass the phone to his superviser. The new guy told me his name was Steve Johnson, but he also had Slight Indian accent. Not as bad as the first guy though.

And he gave me the company details. Sydney Claim Lawyers, 54/133 Hunter Street Newcastle, Postcode 2000. There is no "Sydney Claim Lawyers" in Yellowpages and Newcastle postcode is not 2000. When I said "You aren't in Australia are you?", he insisted in he is in Newcastle and gave me the phone number (02) 8006 7578 for me to ring back. I told him it doesn't sound like Newcastle phone number. He still insisted he is in Newcastle Australia. I told him I will ring back after checking all information and hang up the phone. Then I reported this scam to ACCC website.

I spoke to someone who called my elderly parents fishing for details - and my mother passed the phone to me. Claimed to be working for the Accident Investigation Department. When I asked him for his phone number he gave this one. Very bad English and very unhappy indeed when I asked them to never call again.

I don't answer my phone if I don't recognize the number . I then come to this web site & check out if there are any complaints about the number, if so, I bar the number . It's sad that we have come to this situation because of these time wasting scammers.

I received a call from (02) 8006 7578 .. food for thought, I have in the last two weeks put in a accident claim to AAMI. I was dealt with by overseas call centre employed by AAMI... maybe this is how the caller get ones information.

Indian scammer fishing for car accident details to attempt an identity theft procedure.

I have had 5 calls today, I have told them not to call me again have rang back 3 times since. Can't we stop them they are interrupting my business. Adam, David and hang ups now I say Raelene

Have had a man and a woman calling with this same scam (accidental injury help line) on our work number.

Received a call from "Adam". Similiar to everybody else! Indian accent, kept telilng me he was from the motor accident commission. I asked him 3 times what did he want & he said eventually I want to talk about compensation.
Bit freaky 'cause I had an accident last week, but a roo hit me, so I'm pretty sure that doesn't count!

A lady by the name of Lisa called me and said that she was from the Accidental Information Line and said that my vehicle was involved in a motor vehicle accident and wanted my insurance details. What was scary about this was that she had my surname when I asked for a phone number to contact her she gave me this number. Only 1 week prior to this phone my son received the same phone call and when my son said he did not have a car the man on the other end swore at him and hung up the phone.

This number has started to call my work! Its getting really annoying! I told them its not an accident investigations its a scam, they hung up straight away.

that number has just tried calling Gladstone qld, same thing when I rang them back all I got was a message bank

I called them back and was told by 'Ron' that because I had missed the call, the caller had been fired and was outside crying. I then called them back 20 times but kept getting the answering machine. Maybe I've ben barred by the cold calling Indian call centre - I hope so!

Keep getting calls from this number and being hung up on, seems we are the lucky ones not having to put with having to talk to anyone yet.

Scam. From the Accident Investigation department (ha Ha) as someone from this phone number has had an accident...I think not. Kept talking (background call centre noise, he had indian accent), told him I was on the no calll register and hung up...by the way he was still talking

Same as everyone else, received a call from an Indian sounding male from the "Accident Investigation Department".... Definitely a scam.

Slurred voice Indian male, accident help line. Telling me I'd had an accident, or someone I knew had an accident in the last 3 years.
Chances are pretty high. Laughed at him, told him not to call again and added the number to a block list on my phone.
