I get a lot of these calls. "Someone from this number was involved in a vehicle accident in the last two years, would this be you?"
I haven't, but that's not what they want to hear.
I get enough of these calls to find out a few things about them, too; the weirdest thing I've discovered is they're not interested at all if you say the accident was your fault. You literally can't string them on once you've accepted the blame for a ding... they just hang up!
So if I'm busy, that's the line I take...

I have had 2 calls in the last 2 weeks in Queensland, same scenario, Indian man & he had my name. I was immediately suspicious of the call to the mobile as it is rarely given out. When I questioned the date of the accident - he said because of the privacy act, he couldn't tell me. When I asked the rego number, same reply. I did notice the caller ID on the mobile & it seemed to be a Melbourne City Number started with 03900xxxxx. It rattled me so I rang the ACCC to report it. The lady there took my report & said it was a scam. The caller would continue asking questions & some people have given out their Bank details to hurry up a claim. The ACCC said these people would have bought a listing from somewhere that had my rarely quoted mobile number on it. Perhaps from a car dealer service department years ago because we have to quote it when the car is serviced so they can ring me when it's ready to pick up. Both the mobile & landline are on the "Do not call register" but it doesn't seem to stop these people. I also get the calls supposedly from Microsoft about the computer that I don't have. From now on if I answer the phone & realise it's a call centre I will simply hang up.

Just got a call from (02) 8103 3096 regarding a "not at fault" motor vehicle accident I had been reported as being in during the last 12 months. I said to the guy, an Englishman with a cockney accent, that I hadn't had an accident for the last ten years and told him he was a f##ing idiot and to just f### off! I hung up. He rang back!! I said "now what do you f###ing want?" and he said that I due to data restriction concerns he didn't have the rego number of my vehicle!! I said this was all bullsh*t and hung up on him again, telling him to f## off! He rings again!! I get my wife to answer the phone...she cracks up laughing at him and he accuses me of being a person with Turette's Syndrome!! I am definitely having a good time with this one now. I get on the phone and I say "look this call says you're calling from Liverpool in Sydney..I don't even live in NSW and I haven't had an accident in the last ten years!". He then says that they get data from all Australian Capital Territories...to which I say "there's only one Australian Capital Territory and Canberra is it's capital"...I've got him on the run now!! He says "so I expect that I can close this matter off now!!"...I didn't swear at him..I said that yes he could! Idiot!!!

Just had a call from someone with accident - sounded like Indian - asking about an accident. Pointless conversation, but he did give me a phone no. 02 800 69328. Gave him nothing - he eventually hung-up.

I often get calls from similar people and especially they call where I work so I invested in a small whistle and as soon as they asked me this morning "Hi I believe you have been in a car accident recently" I said no mate but there's about to be one (insert whistle blowing into phone) then I hung up. Have not had a call again this morning from them. One day late last year they phoned in I counted 72 times in one day!!

Yep, got a call tonight from (02) 8103 3086 asking about a car accident in the last 2 years, wasn't an Indian caller though, was a Londoner. He didn't like the fact that I asked him why he didn't have a real job and he informed me he certainly does have a real job and he certainly didn't like that I called him a f*&$ing w**_er, as he called me back constantly for the next five minutes and when I finally answered him he informed me that I've got quite a little mouth on me. The nerve of them

02 800 69329 Bogus indian accent claiming to be someone from ACCIDENT HELP LINE. Said he was ringing in regards to an Car Accident that happened within the past 12mths. When I enquired as to "What Car Accident ?!?!" he conveniently had no details of the Vehicle, the Persons name who Lodged it, or any events at all to do with the Accident. He was apparently ringing to about an Accident but had no details. A quick talker that ends every phrase with "alright then, or begins with "Mam,just listen". What the ?? A SCAM !!

Yes, these bastards are or used to be affiliated with Australian Telecom companies who just happened to provide all your "private" details to these Indian call centres. This is "really" how they obtained your details and why they are trying to scam you.
Do not believe PRIVACY LAWS in Australia ......Non- Existent. The Telecom companies offshore your details so they don't have to answer your calls in Australia because they don't want to pay Australians wages. Blame the Telecoms industry in Australia, they have given away your privacy!!!

We received a call from the Australian Accident Hotline at our workplace - three calls in succession. The first two calls we told them there was no one who had an accident here and that they had called a workplace, then they quickly hung-up. The third time we played along for a bit stating there had been an accident 18 months prior, and the person on the end of the line with an Indian accent tried to confirm the timeline, but had trouble hearing me. We played with the bad phone line but ended up laughing at them and they hung up. No calls back so far.

I received a call today 30/03/17 from "Accident Helpline" in Sydney. An Indian woman with the name of Eva claimed to have details of an accident I was involved in a year ago. According to her, the details were given to her by a Government Department who had the police report. She told me, she was able to contact me by using the details from the report. The report said, I had been rear ended by another motor vehicle. I asked her for more details. She promptly stopped.

At first she old me that Accident Helpline is a Government organisation investigating accidents however she could not call me by name or reveal how she really got my number when asked. I told her, my number was an unlisted number. I asked her for the company's phone number, caller ID and ACN. I asked, why she was calling instead of the police and why the police gave the company the report which contravenes the Privacy ACT. I wanted to know who I needed to take legal action against for passing on these details to her. She replied, "we are a legitimate company, just Google and I would see" . Eva wouldn't give me a phone number but she gave me an ACN (02) 8006 9854 which is not an ACN but their phone number. I asked her for contact number, she hung up.

No more than half an hour later, she rang back and hung up on me. This is not the first time I have received calls from these people, in all I have had about 20 calls over the past thee years. It's the same thing every time they call.

phone call accident scam.

i go along with them. They transfer you back to English scam operator if they think they have snared a victim.
Usually tell a long story with lots of hurt, despair and carnage which elicits much sympathetic empathy from scammers who keep wanting to move onto the scam.
By the time I introduce flying saucers and little green men with ray guns at the accident scene the scammers are hostile that the senior jocks have been had!

Got this call again. Said his name was Henry Jurk calling from Newcastle I think because he spelt it out for me wrongly on the phone. Knew my first name and rhe address where I live! When asked where he got the information from he said hospital surgery lists and the Road Transport Authority! The number called from was (02) 8422 0696. If you call it back the recorded message says the number has been disconnected. How do thesesscammers get access to personal info and use a disconnected phone number? Surely tel com services can stop it.
