Very similar story to those above. An Anglo-Saxon name and an oriental accent!

Had a call from a claimed rep of Telstra saying internet will be disconnected because it had been detected that someone is using my PC illegally and hacking from it. Asked for his phone number and stated I will call him back. Given (02) 8005 1413 and when asked his address he suggested his location Miller St NSW. He requested that he log into my PC so he could fix the problem. When I said to send out a techy to fix it he again insisted he could fix it remotely. I stated under no circumstances will I allow anyone remote access. He hung up. Be careful.

Alleged to be from Telstra Anti Hacking Department. The first person told me that my computer had been breached by hackers and that it was a general problem with Telstra customers who have recently been connected to the NBN network. I was not confident that this call was genuine and asked him for his identification. He stated his name as John Davis [with a broad Indian accent-a bit sus.] and an employee I/D D601053. I was then transferred to his supervisor, who also had an Indian accent, giving me a name: Jack and an employee I/D D611210. To cut a long story short, he wanted me to help trap these so called hackers by letting them deposit money into my bank account to act as a bait to trap these hackers. I told him that I need to check up on the integrity of this call and would call him back on the contact number that I was given by the first operator, being [02] 80051413. He told me not to bother, he would keep the line open. I contacted Telstra NBN on my mobile phone for advice on the validity of this call, giving them the information I had from the callers. The operator informed me that there were no Telstra employees with those I/D numbers.
I returned to the telephone, but the line had been closed. I implore anybody out there, if they should get a suspicious call like this one, just be diligent and contact your service provider, in order to check the integrity of the caller and do not give any banking details.

Received call this morning from a Telstra tech who went by the name of Alice Williams. stating that my internet had been hacked by someone and was now full of viruses. sounded very suspicious. I hung up 3 times, each time they called back. when I said I was busy and could not talk they stated that I had to call them back ASAP and were very rude. calling Telstra to see whether this is legit.

claimed to be from telstra. Didn't ask first if i'm authorized to speak for the account. Claimed my internet will be disconnected. When I asked surely they know why it is being disconnected, person said based on my usage, it looks like my internet will be disconnected. I told him i'm an IT expert and asked for his phone number and name so i can check. When i called the number back, the person who answered said i reached the telstra technical department. I played dumb and asked for the billing department's number and he gave me (02) 8005 4980.
