I played along - gave them an incorrect DOB; and which bank I belong to.. Now they're asking me to ring back the supervisor Rose Brown or Paul Edward........... Please Telstra do something to block these people, so our innocent senior generation don't get caught!

Have been called twice in two days. Was nearly taken in as I wasn't concentrating on what I was hearing. Did some research and discovered they don't exist as a govt dept! Was told I had $7268 in overpaid utilities which is the same amount as others have reported. Well, our overpayments are credited back to our account, so that wasn't going to wash once I turned my brain on! My guy had a thick Indian accent and claimed he was from Sydney. I didn't ask his name.

Yes same phone call today.They will cop it tomorrow big time.Sick of this crap!!!!

This is a scam - called my mum telling her she had an amount for $7268 (interesting that it is almost the same amount that the people who also got call got told). They wanted her to call back provide details and she would get her money from them - they were supposedly the Government / Federal Bank. When asked why they could not send the cheque - Never got any sense out of them other than wanting details on her - she is 90!!

yes they called my mother and she went and put $260 money order to western union money service. someone needs to catch these scammers taking money from innocent people

Scam. $7258 cheque waiting. Asked for date of birth. I said 4th July 1915 and they didn't think that was strange?! She told me I can believe what I would like to believe. I said unicorns. She hung up.

I just had the same call. This is the second time. If they wanted to send me the cheque then why not just go ahead and send it to me.

Claiming to be from Australian Federal Government Reclaimed Department, wanting to refund overcharges within 24 hours. Wanted to pay by cheque and asked for date of Birth. The guy had an indian accent and he gave the name Max Turner.

Looking for people to pay money through post office same day so they can arrange your federal government refund of several thousand dollars. Female operator says they are based in Angel Place Sydney NSW.
