Recives a call of 7289 owed in bank fees same story 199 lawyer fee and cheque issued in 24hours.
Rang the supervisors number who was demanding forcefully payment untill I demanded the lawyers name and buisness name and was told he needs to call me back as he needs to find it out.
Guess what he didnt call back lol what a joke

they are doing the rounds again, I have never heard of so many indian folks with western names, amount has increased to $7200 refund, I asked him if he thought I was stupid, thankfully he said no, I asked him if he knew roughly how many people that he called owned a pc or had read about scams like this one, and would you believe he hung up on me....go figure!

I had the same people ring me up, and say that the government was repaying me for over charging on back account fees, electricity, and other utilities, I spoke to some guy, really hard to understand, he told me to ring his supervisor, which her name was Angela Cooper and quote a reference number, she said she was from the Reclaim Ministry of Finance in 123 Pitt st Sydney. She said a guy would deliver the cheque within 24hrs, but first I would have to go to the post office and get a western union form, to pay the overseas lawyers, I asked why would the Australian Government use overseas Lawyers, her explanation was Australian Lawyers charge to much, and would take half the money I was to receive. She also asked when I could get to the post office to get the western union form, so I could pay the lawyers, I told her it wasn't until the morning, she asked what time, I said what is the hurry, you should give the money to me first then I will pay the proper people, after I see if it is legitimate or not. I told her I will ring in the morning, she will be waiting a long time for me to ring

I just received a call from the same Indian fellow and his supervisor was also a ROSE BROWN.. from The RECLAIM DEPT AUST FEDERAL GOV with a refund of $5200 something didn't write the amount down and the number he gave me was totally bogas (02) 0933 2394. Ummm I'm sick of prank calls let alone from the same place with all incorrect details. I very first call hung up on me when I wouldn't give him my DOB...

The number I was told to call was (02) 8007 3795. I was given a very similar story with the number to ring and confirm the reference number my Indian gave me, but mine was a refund from utility and phone bills! Sounded fairly convincing (but why wasn't I sent a normal letter?) but was put off when I got a simple "hello", not a name and position, when I rang the number - definitely not a professional office answer!!

I got the same call haha. I was skeptical from the beginning but decided to play on. When he told me to call his supervisor with the reference number I quoted the wrong reference number and they didn't correct me. I then did a quick google search on my phone and found this. Wish I had played along and fooled them in return and had a few laughs!!

Got the same call. Did not notice the number.Indian accent with very poor English. Got my christian and surname mixed up and said they would prove they were genuine and gave me some details, such as name and address, all easily available. Kept saying he was from the Australian Federal Government reclaim department. When I asked for the departments website address he could not understand me and the transferred me to his "supervisor". He waffled on for a minute then I told them what I thought they were full of and hung up. Straight away started to search for similar scams

The number for us was (02) 8007 4754 and he was Gary from the Reclaims Department, Australian Government, Level 2, 123 Pitt Street, Sydney. We will be getting a cheque for $5238.00 within 24 working hours. When I asked him further questions he was from the Department of Finance.

and when i go to the post office to get the western union not to share any information with the post office people my refund was $5248 sounds too good to be true

I just received a phone call from "Rose Brown" Federal Government Finance and Treasury - Bank Reclaim Dept - asking me to complete a Western Union Money Transfer Form from the Post Office with my mobile phone and photo licence and send $174.00 to Maheshwor Kahanal, 12 Royal Street, Kathmandu 440033. Once they receive the money they will send a cheque for $5,248.00 within 24 hours. Total Scam!!!

Just received a call from some Indian sounding guy telling me he was from the Reclaim Dept of the Australian Government.he told me that they had done a check and found I was owed over $5000 inillegal bank overcharges, he gave me an application number and told me to ring a certain telephone number in ten minutes. I did not ring and he rang me back and asked me to ring the number, alarm bells began to ring. Anyway I rang the number given and was told I would have to send $ 199 lawyers fees . I told him that I thought it was a scam and why can't they just deduct the money from the amount allegedly owed. The line then went dead.

I have just had a call today, same thing claim to be from the Reclaim Department of The Australian Government. It was a girl called Rebecca Brown (very Indian speaking, not so Indian name?) She told me I would get $5248 from the Government for the banks overcharging on fees and transactions. She knew all my details and wants me also to send $175 in Western Union Money Transfer. I told her I don't have the money, she said call me when you do, hopefully tomorrow. I don't think so, I think I will be notifying local police instead. The number I had to call was very similar it was (02) 8091 0566. She said it was to pay for the overseas lawyers that helped win this case.. garbage.

I recieved call today saying the same as above knew so much about me it was scarey, they said they owed me $5200 I wish the phone number to call slightly different 08 800 60277 I did not give out bank details or ring back.

same thing even same RG148 claim code and annie was the indian woman. And my amount was $5248. Rediculous. How do you report these people to someone who will actually shut them down and prosecute them

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday, rang the police after being suspicious. Definitely a scam, what is more if I hadnt of discussed this with my daughter I may have proceeded.

The same thing happened to me , same details and amount. I was very suspicious but curious. I rang the number that was given to me but hung up shortly afterward without giving any details. How can these people sleep at night???
