My wifwe had a similar call and foolishly had gotten as far as picking up the western union paperwork. This "Max Lewis " called back today and gave me a heap of false information including a bodgy address and a false ABN number (JS5210). Hung up after a while as he must have realised how unconvincing he was.

just had an Indian call me saying they were from reclaim finance department of Australia federal government telling me I had $6325 in overpaid bank fees . they knew my name & address , I was a bit suss about the whole thing . she told me they could send a cheque or deposit it straight into my account .she asked me which bank cheque I would like . I started asking questions & she gave me the number of her manager (norma Stewart ) & a reference id to call to confirm . instead of ringing them back , I rang my bank . them agreeing it sounded like a scam , informing me if I rang back they would ask me to pay a small amount to get my so called money activated .

Max Lewis just called me and said I would receive a cheque for $6385 if I paid $235 for Lawyers fees first - told me to get a Western Union Form from the local post office and call him back - sounds very dodgy to me

I just had a call from a Jennifer Collins from the Reclaim department of the Australian Federal Government, Sydney NSW. Apparenty they have done a demographic study in our state and they discovered that a lot of people have been overcharged: phone, shops, etc. This sounds such a lame story.

So now they are offering me $6325.00.. Did I want a cheque? I said yes. They gave me a case number and the manager to contact on (02) 8317 1140. She could not recite the phone number off by heart. It was stated slowly, and maybe she was trying to find it? I had to ring the case manager, give my case number and then I would receive the monies. I did phone the case manager, gave my case number and was told that the cheque would be sent to me. I said thanks and hung up before I gave them further details. I think that this is a scam.

Just had a call from Jenny. Had all my details and address etc even advised me my cheque or refund could be sent directly to my bank, she knew which bank,,,,,,
Gave me a follow up number of (02) 8317 1140 and quote ref AC 225. Supervisors were Murray Edwards, Alan Johnson Norma Stevens and Edward someone Woman had Indian accent

I just got a call from an Indian claiming he was from the Australian Goverment reclaim department saying i am owed in over change bank fee's of $6325 and he had my name DOB and address. Its scary to know that he had all my info. i just hope he cant use it .He gave me a reference number and a phone number (02) 8317 3153 . not to sure what i shoud do ????

Received call from Indian sounding women who said I had to phone (02) 8317 1140 to receive a cheque from Aust Government for overcharged bank charges.

I just had one of those calls from a woman who I must admit sounded quite professional but I did smell a rat as she had an Indian accent. I was told to call a number 80066964 with a ref number of KH193 They did have my address which like an idiot I confirmed, alarm bells going off by now. Can't someone stop these crooks?

Just had a call from someone (a fella) with a heavy Indian accent said he was calling from the Reclaim Financial Department of the Australian Federal Government in Sydney. Told me I was due $6,325 for overcharges for Electricity, bank charges etc. He even asked ne how I would like to receive the money, I said cheque, he promised to post a Commonwealth Bank cheque within 24 hours. He gave me the name of his Manager as Paul Edward and 2nd manager Steven Coleman Ref BS 15 (which probably stands for bull sh*t) he had all my details except an old address and requested that I call back his manager on (02) 8091 2006 which I did and a guy with a heavy accent answered - seems as if this scam is still going.

Names and numbers changed but I got the same call. Took down the info, thanked them for calling, hung up phone and ditched paper. Mamma always said if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. She didn't raise any fools.
Still I wish someone would stop these scammers as there are always gullible people who will fall for it. It is probably a foreign call center judging by the thick accent.

I just had a call, also from an hindian accent man (Steve). Told me same story. My amount was $6325. Also gave me a Ref No. He new my name, address and ask me DOB. The 1st manager name was Allan Johnson and the 2nd manager Maria Edward. The phone to ring (02) 8006 0455.
I went to check online, find this page and decided not to call back

I just had a call claiming i have been over charged and the australian government refunds selected 1700 people for this. they new my name, address and dob and phone number. The said i would be recieving a total of $8546.00 however i had to pay a lawyer fee of $150.00 in order to get my money. Major alarm bells going off. i then said i dont understand because the government never request people to pay a certain amount in order to get their refunds. They asked me to call them on 02 800 575 23 with a reference of pr608

Hi mine is a similar story to all the above. Debbie Williams from the federal government reclaim dep with a $6586.00 refund for me. 2/angel place Pitt st Sydney. she had my name and address and wanted my DOB and banking institution. Bahahahah byer beware.

I received a call from the Reclaims deparment. Steve Martin called me. I also phoned back and said I would report them to the police and was very promptly hung up on. They had phoned my father initially and I grabbed the phone from him. It worries me that they may potentially be scamming people with poor English or the elderly.

Just got the call. Thought I'd ask for the cheque to be posted. Had my address already. It's a worry. Checked on line for any possible scams. wow!
Why aren't these people stopped in their tracks. I hope they get caught. The number I was to phone was the same..(02) 8091 7353. Reclaim Finance dept.
Managers this time were Norma Stewart, Max Lewis and Keith Rankin. I said I wouldn't give out bank details over the phone if they didn't already have it.

A female still trying it out to tell me she was from the Reclaims Dept of Federal Australian Govt. I did not let her get any further due to her very very strong accent and that she was not even sure who she had rung.Not willing to provide a call back phone number unless I provided personal info.

I got a phone call today from "Steve Jackson". Funny, he had a very strong indian accent and didn't appreciate it when I told him he could have come up with a better name. When I asked for a contact number he hung up on me .... No surprises there!
