I received a call from this number at 12:56 pm today, 29-8-18 from a male person with a distinct Asian (Indian) accent. Said his name was Bryan Taylor from TELSTRA Technical Department, located at 242 Exhibition Street Melbourne, Victoria. (If that were correct, then wouldn't the Area Code be 03 and NOT 02).
He claimed that my computer was being hacked and I needed to give him access to my computer so he could establish the origin of the hacker(s). Said that he could only access the origin through MY internet connection. (He later said that they had confirmed the origin of the hacker to be in Southern California. I told him that as they knew the origin, they can then shut them down. He said No, they need access from MY computer.
I kept him talking for just over 41 minutes when he finally said that if I didn't do what he wanted, my Internet connection would be shut down and my computer made inoperable before he hung up.

I told them they had rung the Australian Federal Police Cyber Crimes Division and they weren't able to hang up quick enough....

They wont give up they keep calling. PESTS.

Answered and was told 'Telstra technical department' and I hung up immediately. Obvious scammers, add this number to your blacklist.

Number is not connected when called back . When challenged it was a scam the lady called me a bastard and hung up

They keep calling. Have answered - one time someone spoke, others times I could just here background noise. They knew my name.

(02) 6985 2478 calls me very often recently. Sometime is female sometime is man but they are all with Indian accent. They claim to be from Telstra technical department. Sometime they say my computer has been hacked and sometime they say my broadband has problem. If I hang up right away they will call right back. I have to shout to them not to call me again then they will stop for a few days. Very annoying.

this is a big problem these people pretending to be from Telstra.IT IS TIME TELSTRA DID SOMETHING ABOUT THESE SCAMERS AND ANOYING !!!!!!! PRETENDING TO BE FROM TELSTRA . I HAVE NEVER HAD A SCAMER PRETENDING TO FROM ANY OTHE TELCO NAME . I HAVE HAD IT FROM THESE ANOYING PEOPLE. I HAVE HAD OVERSEAS CALLS BLOCKED ON MY LANDLINE BUT NUSIANCE CALLS STILL COMING.

OK Telstra, its time you as a company started to take your responsibility seriously. There is a subscriber to a telephony service engaging in fraudulent activities. We have their number, shut them down and refer to police. If you cannot locate them because they that a phantom number then your network is insecure, and you must take action to fix this issue immediately. The Telephone companies have a duty of care to provide a safe communication system and we must hold them accountable

Scam Calls Do Not Pick Up. Very annoying - every day!

I have had 9 calls in 2 days . I answer but don’t talk they then hang up

They listened to the message and then hung up, like all nuisance calls. I tried to ring back but the message said, This number is not connected. They are ringing daily and sometimes more than once a day.

I CANT UNDERSTAND THIS. IF TELSTRA,NOW THESES ARE SCAM CALLS, WHY CANT THEY BLOCK THE NUMBER.

Didn't pick up the phone as I only pick up known numbers now. Obviously scam 100% and it just rings off. I have call display so I can check before I pick up.

Constantly calls and doesn't leave message - darn pest. Usually meal times.
